The 2013 LOMP

Anyone got a reliable long range weather forecast for this event? It would be just our luck to find that all the passes are impassable due to snow.

Cloudy with the occasional sunny period, slight drizzle with the occasional down pour, a mild frost with the occasional flutter of snow.

I think that just about covers it. :thumb:

What, no gales, hurricanes or thunderstorms?

mmm mmm .......NO - you should be fine.

What I like about the Lakes is that even if the weather is disappointing the scenery more than makes up for it.

I'm sure you will all have a fab time. ;)

But my SLK was possibly once owned by Rashman. It doesn't go out in the wet.

Ah this will make driving in Northern climes difficult for the car then. You'll have to break it in gently. Put some Wet Wet Wet on the stereo and go for a little drive after it has just finished raining then it can get used to puddles. As time goes on introduce it to warm showers (but never rain at this stage) Dry it off immediately with a warm towel (you may need to whisper to the car as you do this - its known as "Carwhispering" and change the oil (Mobil 1 I'm thinking) This is like a treat for it. Increase the strength of the precipitation very slowly and extend the interval of the oil changes but again only very slowly. If the car refuses to go out in the rain threaten it with the "naughty garage" It knows in here it will be parked next to BMW's and it wont like that one bit - nosiree. As an extreme measure you could threaten to sell it to a scrapman but this should not be required.

Nice one John. Unfortunately Rash must have put a curse on the car as it really doesn't like the wet. I've tried putting tyre socks on but it just throws a tantrum and ruins them. I am working on a new theory now, in that if it gets wet then I will leave it out all night and not jump straight for the chamois and detailing spray. I think the message is just starting to get through.
Brian.

Just over two weeks now to the LOMP. Anyone else thinking of joining us? Just hope that the snow disappears before then.

Is everyone who signed up for the LOMP still going?

Well I am! I have made arrangements to drop the other half off at my sons on the way up, and to collect her on the way back.
I wouldn't dare change that now.

No snow forecast for the weekend. Dry, temp -2 at night, +8 day.
Sunny periods.

I'm still in, got Friday off work to clean the car and drive down to the hotel. Not had a day off for 7-8 weeks (that includes weekends!) so really looking forward to getting out the house/office and having a little road trip.

Weather sounds good too!

Sorry guys but I have to duck out of this. Going on holiday next week and have a lot to get done before then. Hope you all have a great time.

All passes except the Wrynose/Hardknott seem to be open. Weather is forecast to be sunny but temperature will only get to about 7 degrees if we are lucky.
See you at The Pooley Bridge Inn tomorrow evening. I should be there from about 1630 onwards.

I am going to have to bail out .. too much going on at work.

Have a great time.

Looking forward to the pictures.

Yep I've just cancelled too just too much on work wise at the moment, sorry guys but have a good one. :thumb:
