Thinking About Buying A C63 AMG

Hi All,

New to the forum, but thought I would reach out to increase my knowledge before buying a C63 AMG,

I am looking to buy before April, and just wanted to see if anyone had any hints or tips for me before I do. It would be good to know what to look out for when buying a C63.

I am thinking once I have the car of using DMS Automotive to remap the car to 520bhp, anyone used them? Or have any thoughts on the remapping?

I was also thinking about a post 2010 PP C63 so that I would get the stiffer suspension, LSD and other benefits but not have to worry about the pre 2010 extra 30bhp due to the remap.

Cheers for any advice in advance.

Eurocharged are probably a better bet than DMS :thumb:

Send me a PM mate. I have a 2013 very nice colour / spec that has been thoroughly pampered. I am thinking about selling next month.

Eurocharged are one of the main tuners of the C63 (especially in the states).
There is a massive scope for tuning on the C63 it just depends on 2 things
1: How much do you want
2: How deep are your pockets

there are plenty threads on here with regards to Eurocharged / Weistec etc
And there are plenty people on here who can advise.

DMS and Eurocharged are both Very Good Tuners just for Remaps, if you want 200bhp more then stock speak to us.

Agreed, for now a remap will suffice. For the price and power increase, it makes a lot of sense.

In the future, I would love to look at Supercharging, but for now it's not right.

What would you recommend looking out for when buying a C63? Is the LSD or PP options definitely worth going for?

What are the common faults and issues?

Hi All,

New to the forum, but thought I would reach out to increase my knowledge before buying a C63 AMG,

What's the budget? Requirements - saloon, coupe, estate? I take it you won't buy from a main dealer as warranty isn't important once you modify.

Personally, I like straight unmodified cars from the main dealer. Didn't see many estates in my budget (£33k max) when I bought in September-13 but I did find a good 2010 car and knocked off £1800. Saloons are plenty so should be cheaper.

I too have a white C63 Coupe. 16 months old - 1700 miles. Serviced and with a LSD.

Don't drive it as away. Also thinking about selling.

Budget, ideally wanted to spend £35,000 max. Although for the right car, I may stretch.

Probably a saloon but have looked at a coupe. With the Eurocharged remap you can get a handheld programmer to switch over the ECU back to stock, so warranty would be a nice to have.

Agreed, I would prefer to buy a straight unmodified car and make the changes myself.

With regards to the Performance Pack, and Performance Pack +, am I right in thinking pre-2010 models have LSD and hardened suspension and post-2010 models have the extra 30bhp.

If someone could please clarify that would be great.

Hi yes that is correct the 08 09 pp cars have stiffer springs and lsd.

Post 2010 ppp cars have the extra bhp and lsd was a option.

No. Pre 210 pp's do not come with LSD as standard. Just different front discs, alcantara steering wheel and stiffer suspension.

Incorrect read my post above, all pre 2010 pp cars have a lsd.

The Mercedes C63 AMG Performance Package costs £3210 and promises to turn the four-door saloon from Affalterbach into an M3 beater. For your money you get uprated brakes and suspension, a limited slip differential and a steering wheel trimmed in nappa leather and Alcantara.

I done a lot of homework on this when looking to buy mine. Speaking to numerous main dealers because I kept seeng c63 advertised as pp's with LSD and turning out they didn't. I did eventually get to the bottom of it.

A number of 09 models came with LSD as stand alone. An oversight by MB, as soon after they limited the LSD to P030. I have one with 'delimited!' top speed and LSD.

In fact a lot of the main dealers didn't know of this. There's probably people out there driving there c63's thinking it's got LSD but it hasn't.

How can you check whether a C63 has an LSD or not? Is there anyway to get a full spec list?

I got a spec list with mine when I brought it. From when I was doing my homework on this as it was important to me to get one with LSD I think somewhere on the car there's a plate, not sure if it's on a vin plate but if you have the numbers 471 you have lsd. Don't quote me on that number but it's something like that. The visual way is look underneath and if it's got big nasty aluminium cooling fins on the bottom of your diff you got lsd.

The VIN can be used to generate a data card to show you every option fitted.

Just looked. LSD is listed as option number 471.
