Thinking About Buying A C63 AMG

Looks a good example and the spec sounds good, provided it has what it says. Getting a copy of the spec sheet is important as these cars have so much on them that its sometimes difficult to check as a private buyer.

The facelift interior is nicer, but you obviously pay for it.

How would you get a copy of the spec sheet? From the dealer?

Assuming spec sheet and data card are same thing, here are two ways in which I got mine:

1) Take the VIN to Mercedes parts dept and they will print it out. (no one asked me for proof of ownership).
2) Register yourself on My Mercedes online then using the VIN add the car into your list of cars. (no verification done although to get the service record online you need a security key, printed on last service record)

Yes, think a facelift interior is a little out of budget.

I might view the one I found and take it for a test drive, only 30 miles away be rude not too.

As mentioned my facelift "62" plate C63 for sale. 1800 miles, white, black leather, serviced, LSD. If interested PM me.

Nice although I'm not a fan of the colour. Is it me or are the insides of those wheels the same colour as the outer rim, when they should actually be a bit darker on the inside?

EDIT - I think it's me. Just took a photo of mine and they look the same on camera, just different in the flesh.
front pads are shot by the look at the grooves on the disc tho!!

Hi Jerry, I can't PM until I get to 30 posts. How much you looking for?

See if you can get the VIN numbers and then check against the VIN tracker to make sure its not a M156 engine with potentially a head bolt issue.......very few had this issue but worth checking.

So far I have been given two spec sheets for the two C63s I've been looking at.

Which one would you go for?

Didn't you like any on Merc's used car site? There's a 2010 in Palladium with only 18k miles for 32k. Knock them down to 30k and if you're going for any finance you'll probably get a better rate with Merc.

I heard headbolt issue was pre-2010??

Dont quote me on it, but checking through the American sites (MBWorld) there are 2010 models which could be affected. Just depends how long the engine sat before being fitted i suppose.
If its a suspect engine (checked on the VIN checker) i think you can get the dealer to change them out.

Are these the VIN numbers?

WOO 204077 2F 406520

WDD 204077 2F 522665

If so can someone please check them for me.

have a read of this thread......
Whats the range of VINs that are affected by the M156 head issues? - MBWorld.org Forums

I will probably get mine changed for the Weistec Studs even though mine is not on the list just for piece of mind and due to the few extra mods i have had done.

Not sure how many actual failures there has been but its an interesting topic.

I read the thread, but now I am even more confused than I already was for things to check for.

I think the O9 engine number is 1569 so may have this issue.

Is it a serious problem?

There is a massive scope for tuning on the C63 it just depends on 2 things
1: How much do you want
2: How deep are your pockets

Haha, that reminds me of the classic line in Mad Max:

"...speed's just a question of money mister, how fast d'ya wanna go?....

Would say that's a good call Lee, also the oil separator if you don't already have it

Oil Seperator already fitted.

Kw V3 DDC just paid for today !!!!!!

Head bolts / valve buckets and Stage 2 in talks............:thumb:

I don't think I'd be looking at spending that sort of money with a dealer like this. Surely you could do down the approved MB route for similar money?

Would that be the recommended route?

I have time, there is no rush so if waiting for a car at an MD dealer would be the best option then I will do so.

I would say buy a car from a dealer then at least you have the full backing of MB dealer should you have any claim.

When i was looking the Dealer was no more expensive than the independents.

That's what I did 4 months ago and I sit comfortable whether I have a dodgy engine or not. They will fix it for me. And I will always keep it in warranty so won't modify it one bit.
