Thinking About Buying A C63 AMG

Is that in the VIN number? Thanks for having a look it's important to me to find one with LSD as well.

Dont worry about the LSD, if it does not have one you can have a Quaife ATB diff fitted which is far superior to the OEM one
The money you could potentially save on a Non PP car could be spent on the Quaife Diff / Eurocharged Re-Map and even KW suspension and you may not have the Kudos of the PP car but you will certainly run circles round it!!!!

How do you do this?

To be honest when I was looking for one with all the goodies it was hard to get the correct information. Numerous main dealers don't know what there talking about with specs of these cars. Even when I was calling main dealers with reg numbers etc of cars I was interested in buying they'd couldn't tell me for sure if it had lsd fitted. Yeah they could tell me it was black, silver or if it had command blah blah but nothing I really wanted to know. 75% of the dealers I phoned said if the cars got red calipers then it's got everything. Obviously not the case. There was only one dealer out of probably the 20 I called that helped me out no end. Mb Hertford. The young lady who answered my call went way out of her way to solve my problem, from getting mechanics on the phone to actually getting me in touch with someone at mb Great Britain.

Moral of this story is lol. Don't take half of what the dealers say as gospel.

Get the VIN from the seller. Google MB data card, there are several Russian websites which will decide the VIN for you.
Or you can sign up to a £15ish a year subscription to the EPC or you can use the Mercedes Benz uk website itself if you sign up.
Finally, you could just post the vin on this forum and some kind soul will post the spec list back to you.

Agreed, when I spoke to Eurocharged yesterday they mentioned a quaife LSD fitted was around £1,500+VAT.

Also Eurocharged did mention to me that a PP C63 may hold value better and sell quicker.

I have found a standard C63 I do like with good mileage, I will post a link on here later. Looks pretty good.

Looking into market values it does seem as though C63's are going for more than the recommended valuations I'm having done.

I bought my 2010 C63 towards the end of last year having read up on the subject of PP and LSD etc, I started the search adamant that it had to have PP and LSD. I also viewed a few advertised as having LSD but actually not, also I was put off the PP after finding out the price of new brake discs compared to non-PP when actually the discs are the same its just the hub that's a different material. Knowing that I was likely to get it remapped to give higher bhp that the PP, this kind of renders the PP redundant.

Regarding the LSD, knowing that the superior Quaife LSD could be fitted made me consider the option of buying a non-PP, non-LSD and getting it remapped and the LSD fitted myself. The price difference after allowing for the cost of doing this, meant it was certainly cheaper to get a non-PP & LSD car and get these done myself.

Regarding the depreciation and re-sale question - bearing in mind the cost is notably less in the first place I can't see it being a concern. And certainly in the case of the Quaife LSD, the car will be more markettable than a standard LSD.

MY car has now been remapped (Eurocharged by Rebellion Automotive) and the Quaife LSD is on order via the group discount topic on this site.

Thanks for the feedback. Completely agree with what you are saying, and I guess that does make a lot of sense.

I think I will base my search on mileage, condition and age. If it has PP or LSD that is a bonus. Although believe the OEM LSD only has around 20% lock whereas the Quaife around 60%.

I have also been told about the brake discs, and understand the cost to be up to £1,700 instead of £500.

How have you found the car since the remap? What is the difference like?

If its a standard car (450bhp) then the difference is night and day.....it is amazing the difference in acceleration and the exhaust will become much louder too.
If its a PPP car then probably not as noticeable (480 bhp)

For the price of getting it done its a must do mod
I got the handheld so in theory i could flash it back and take it to the dealer without any one noticing.....

Cant really do that these days though:D

I only use mine at weekends and with the weather being as it has, the damp roads mean I've not had many opportunities to fully push it. But I would say that I did notice a difference in how quickly it goes through the higher revs. For example in manual mode I wasn't changing up a gear quick enough before the display would illuminate red as the revs would approach the limiter. So I certainly think in the upper half of the revs its noticable.

I wouldn't go as far as saying night and day different - after all 457 bhp as standard is still a hell of a lot, but its noticable as the Eurocharged map should be c 520 bhp. Even as standard, the problem isn't power it's traction, which is where the Quaife LSD should improve things.

Yes, I was going to definitely make sure I got the handheld option so I can re-flash the ECU and not void any warranty.

I think I will look at the same mods as you've done. Just remap the ECU and LSD, then save for something a little more extreme in the future.

Found this C63 online yesterday, what do you all think?

Nice although I'm not a fan of the colour. Is it me or are the insides of those wheels the same colour as the outer rim, when they should actually be a bit darker on the inside?

EDIT - I think it's me. Just took a photo of mine and they look the same on camera, just different in the flesh.

Make sure it has comand eg the pop up screen if its missing this option look elsewhere it will be very hard to sell on.

The ad says it does but don't go by that. My main dealer said mine had ILS when it didn't. And there was a disclaimer on the website. But that wasn't a biggy.

Just put the reg through whatcar and it says main dealer price is 27,114. Room for a discount!

I have the same issue, every plate or car I price check seem to come up a lot cheaper than the dealer price listed.

I mean I'm aware of supply and demand, but £2,500 is steep.

Can't be sure whatcar are accurate but you have an excuse - haggle!

If you can push to it and find one I would go for a facelift car, the interior is much much nicer.

Looks a good example and the spec sounds good, provided it has what it says. Getting a copy of the spec sheet is important as these cars have so much on them that its sometimes difficult to check as a private buyer.

The facelift interior is nicer, but you obviously pay for it.
