I like Chris Harris as a motoring journalist & think he's pretty good on screen at conveying the experience of driving whatever car he's in.

There, I've said it.

I have several of his paintings on my wall. His rendition of Two Little Boys brings me to tears.

Glad to see Chris Harris included as he is an excellent driver and reviewer. I often quote his review of the SL 63 for Evo mag in 2009.
Along with Sabine they now have a couple of proper drivers like Fifth Gear has.
Hopefully Chris Evans will realise how inadequate he is and take a back seat and shut up which will suit me fine.

I wonder how long that line up will last? I suspect if Top Gear survives, there will be incremental line up changes each season.

Wow! We are a positive bunch on here today aren't we? Talk about doom & gloom.

Cheer up lads. You might even enjoy it. :D

I agree and it'll be interesting to see how the BBC handles the show once the viewing figures drop.

Out of the line-up there's only really the German and the Yank that have a relatable touch; if Eddie Jordan and Chris Evans are sharing the screen it'll be "look at me!" 'no, look at me!' "No, me, me, me!!!"

I'd have really liked to see Dario Franchitti in there, he was made for Top Gear.

Potential Crock-O-Shyte

Makes Quentin and Jodie's show look positively watchable.

The thing is that it's easy to be negative and predict disaster and a there is a higher chance that the gloom and doom will prove to be in some form or another.

If you don't want to watch the programme then don't, it's simple enough really.

TV eh? Everyone an armchair critic, literally.

Viewed only from the perspective of the previous shows format such a line up seems a recipe for disaster but using a different show format I could see it working- It will be completely different from the previous show- for better or worse that's pretty much a certainty

It's the same old same old. Typical British mentality. Basically willing it to fail.

Just a thought, I wonder if the new TG will be allowed to have any of the old presenters as guests? interesting

When there was trashing of the previous Top Gear towards the end, I defended it as being one of the very very few programmes aimed at someone like me and even if the scripts were slipping, it didn't matter because there was still enough in there to entertain.

I think a lot of the "doom and gloom" surrounding the new series is because Top Gear felt personal to a lot of men, it spoke the language of the British bloke; bad puns and double entendres. The penis alloys a case in point, I couldn't stop laughing at that stunt...

Having seen the new presenters in their different roles, I highly doubt there'll be that same camaraderie where there's a feeling that they're say in your front room, joking with you.

I agree Lee

But surely on that Basis the Real new TG will be with JC, RH & JM on Amazon where you'll still find the shenanigans we all know and love? (As listed in your post)

The Other TG on BBC will be a totally different programme for a different audience.

People are so confused about 'Top Gear'
It hasn't been a car show for years, it's an entertainment show based around cars.

Those wanting sabine and chris harris should be watching 5th gear not top gear.
The average person watching Top Gear isn't interested in the ergonomics of a fiat 500 or the boot space on a seat alhambra, they want to see big lairy cars or trucks getting abused around a track sideways or watching the guys mess about in cheap bangers across a desert.

I dare say Chris Evans, Mat le blanc and Possibly Eddie Jordan could do a decent job of reviving Top Gear, but Sabine(vicki) and Chris Harris(tiff) don't interest me, and are the reason I won't watch(like 5th gear).

It seems like the BBC have looked and listened to what 'car people' want but they seem to have forgotten Top gear wasn't really aimed at car people in the way they seem to have arranged the new line up. They seem to have gone 5th gear style.

5th gear and Top Gear are worlds apart, you'll never get it to work if you try and mix the two.

Funny that, Sabine will be one of the reasons I'll be watching. :bannana:

That's my thoughts too.
