W140 S600 Coupe V12

Wonder haw much did that cost when new

Best be grabbing these before the general populace clicks on. These really are a machine & very much under rated IMHO.

I don't think there is anything I don't like about that. I even love the fact it has an "Economy" switch on the gearbox, who said the Germans have no sense of humour?

Was never really a fan of this shape, never really stood a chance after the W126, but i must say this a beautiful example.....

Look at all that extra walnut trim..... Even got walnut on the door handles!

WONDERFUL MERCEDES S600 W140 V12 COUPE 1994 - IN SUPERB CONDITION. | eBay

I had a 560 SEL 126 and when they replaced it with the W140 i decamped to a BMW 7 series then went back to MB when the W220 came out.

Saying that this one is immaculate and if the 140 is your cup of tea what a great looking car.

Nice colour, spec, mileage and condition but my God is the W140 coupe ugly!

That is a lovely car... but like grober says, these cars are getting old now and wiring looms, head gaskets, throttle bodies, various sensors are all common failures...

Omg !!!

That car was advertised previously - I have definitely seen it before since the interior colour combination is odd (light leather + dark plastics/dash).

Jay is spot on with his comments. When I was selling my 1998 S600L I had a few people contact me who had 1992-1995 V12's with various problems and wanted to move to a later version.

PS: would be curious to know how long he has owned it

he pretty much says only a few months...

Looks a lovely car though, if it was a late one I would definitely be interested.

How many of those issues are time at temperature related rather than just age of car related......??

ALL. mileage doesnt matter on these cars... low mileage cars do feel more special but these cars issues will all be related to its age.

Ah, thanks (only flicked it open to see quickly)

That particular car (a series 1 V12) + only owned a few months before selling indicates either i) trying to flip for a profit or ii) there is something wrong.

The V12's don't tend to be bought on a whim in my experience of talking to owners etc.

Really; if a car's travelled relatively few miles the head gasket, wiring looms etc are going to be shot from just sitting there for 20 odd years?

I thought these things were heat/use related......??

I like the cut of yer jib !!! Personally I believe regular exercise as well as servicing is essential to maintain these machines! Any technical / service specialists on here to back this up?

Yep, wiring loom will need doing, I should know! I had the head gaskets done to cure an oil leak at the front, think they call them 'H' seals. The gaskets hadn't gone and could have been left but I like my cars to be leak free.
