Just gone to start the car today and it just spun and spun, the cars been totally fine, used it all day yesterday with no problems.
Anyway managed to see the problem, the high pressure fuel pump at the front of the engine has a large leak from the bottom left head on the pump.
I know that a seal kit can be bought to repair the pump but would that cure the head leak?
The heads look like they are just metal to metal with no gasket so what exactly is leaking? Is it a bust 'O' ring inside that?
I also understand that the pumps can crack so until I take it off in the morning I can't be sure of that.
Also its not the plastic pipes that are leaking its def the head.
I'm wondering if getting a pre used one may be the way to go?
Any help would be great.:thumb:

The seal kit will indeed fix it if you are handy with the spanners!!

Lets us know how you get on. Do take some photos as you go.

Best of luck. :thumb:

it is most likely leaking from the fuel pipe that goes into the left side, there is 2, I had both of my orings fail, I was told by a garage that it was the pump itself that was leaking but I wasn't convinced so decided to change the oring myself, both the pipes can be removed without taking the pump off, once you remove the retaining clip that holds both the pipes in place just be careful when trying to remove the pipes as they can break easily, you will have to remove the fan shroud to get at the back one. I should take about 45 minutes

I wish it was just one of the pipes but I have taken the fans off pulled the rad forward and also taken the viscous fan off so I can see properly.
Got the wife to turn the car over and it's definite leaking from the pump head.
I,m also going to do the clear pipes whilst it's all stripped down.

I have just ordered the 2 x fuel pipes
the 2 x plastic clips which hold the pipes and the pump seal kit which I have been told is number 86?
Can anyone confirm this is the correct part?

86 A0000780780 Gasket Kit for High Pressure Pump

BTW that part number is for mine, which is a 2000 W210 E320 CDI but I think your's is the same
