Hi JBD, first of all I have to say I find your threads / posts really informative and it's great to get information 'straight from the horses mouth' as it were!

Having researched the GLC online, I've placed an order without obviously seeing it in the metal or driving it - I've gone for the 250d AMG with Premium Pack, running boards, 20 inch titanium wheels and tow bar in the new selenite grey. I originally configured it in white with the night package but when I saw the chrome against the grey, I was sold on it.

Can I have your opinion on the GLC vs my ML350? I love my 2014 ML350 AMG and have had it since January last year and am just hoping I've not jumped the gun with the GLC. I need a car with sufficient power to tow a caravan and the GLC will do that quite comfortably. I realise that the ML is considered more 'prestige' than the GLC but the GLC will do exactly what I need with better economy, easier to get in the garage and will save me parking at the far end of every car park I enter. Whilst I love the ML, the GLC ticks all the boxes and I would have bought one instead of the ML had it been around at the time. Before I ordered the ML I looked at the Q5 and X3 but have been a 'Merc man' for some time now and wanted to remain loyal to the brand. The main thing I will miss is the roar of the V6 - I just love that sound!
Would be interested in your opinion as to whether I'm making a foolish move - I wouldn't want to mess the dealer around but I guess I'd lose my deposit if I decided I didn't want it. Looking forward to looking at the demo when it arrives.

I don't think you've made a bad choice. It's certainly the most refined car in that class that I have driven. If anything is going to compete with the class above, that you are coming from, it's the GLC. I like the sound of your spec, I think it will look great. I think there will be a lot in white with the night package, so I don't think you've made a bad decision there.

You're not going to get that same V6 roar, but it's a lighter car and the 250 definitely has enough power. I doubt you'll regret it!

I thought the same but the more I look at it... the more I want the red and not black haha. I think the brochure is most likely to be correct though and the configurator wrong but I quite like this

Here's one I want to know... I have an A45 AMG on order with an exclusive pack in sahara beige/black. The configurator shows red seat belts but the brochure states black. When I try to remove the red seat belts on the configurator it says it can't be done without removing the exclusive pack

Ps. this is not the "AMG exclusive pack" as although the same price, that does have black belts to confuse matters.

The exclusive package comes with black seat belts, so there's your answer! It will delete the red ones

Seems as soon as you choose AMG so Night Package is available, the only interior choice is black?

I have been thinking about swapping our X3 for another ML.

I keep looking at the GLC and love the thought of it, but think I might find it too small and get bored of it after a few months.
The ML was the longest I have ever kept a car, and only sold my old one as I thought I was going to sell the X3 as well and get a W166. But prices seem to have gone up on them and that sort of put an end to my searching.

No it's not. There's a little number two next to the beige. At the bottom it says not available on AMG line

Seriously, who at Mercedes UK makes these decisions?

I seriously don't want loads of 1990s chrome tat on the outside, and I don't want a coal hole inside.

Where is the nice Mocha looking leather from the promo video of the GLC for any of the model lines?


We had all this **** with the E Class, I had to buy an Avantgarde as the sport was black only.




I had configured my GLC today in blue with the night package, I also wanted interior ambent lighting as that seems standard everywhere else, but is now a £3000 option as you can only have it with premium plus.

This was my order....

But not with a black interior!!

Have to say I am ****ing gutted!!

The tri colour ambient lighting is optional on all cars, other than some of the boutique ones like the S class. The nice seats you saw in the promo were of a designo interior, which I've been in. That's not currently coming to the UK. The grey roof lining or pan roof could help brighten it up
