What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Professionals look away now !
Thought that the CLK winter steel wheels were looking tatty and rusty , so over the last 3 days I have cleaned them , rustproofed them and stuck a coat of smooth black metal paint on them with a large brush .
There was no attention to detail involved in any of this but I’m well impressed with how good they look now . They might be 9 years old ?

Bought myself a chrome stop start button. Didn't know anything about them tbh. Been using the key all this time . :-)

Stripped the rear brakes down to check parking brake shoes, cleaned all the sliding bits and while I was at it wax oiled the subframe front mounting points.

Ordered a wax thermostat for the W123. Once this is in, will connect up the new (to me) warm-up regulator, overrun air valve and see if we have decent cold start. It’s been a battle.

Wheels aligned, new centre caps, new number plates and a quick clean. Trying to hold my own at my local MB next to the new motors 😂

Honour upheld I reckon - it looks great. And I'm sure yours won't be covered in swirl marks having been washed by the 'one bucket and sponge for 30 cars' method that the dealership almost certainly employs.

Not the “one hose-attached brush which lives on in the floor when it’s not in use method”?

Or the “scrub half the brake dust and grit off the wheels and sills with a brush - remembering to leave the other half in Situ - and then use it on the paintwork” method?

Got a new master cylinder and rear abs sensors. That’s now new rear brake lines done, new discs and pads all round and new master cylinder and brake servo. And new abs sensors all round. Next to do is rear suspension, control arms and rear roll bar. Then I’ll move to the front and do the same with the suspension.

Don’t even get me started on that 😂 with my dad at a Toyota dealers years ago and witnessed cloth fall on the floor, cloth dropped in old bucket, cloth then used on brand new cars. Made me wince!

Took the old girl for a pre mot check to Gareth @Jobsworth, all good...she passed :thumb:

Then took her for a nice drive out. Had lunch bought for me by @andy27168 and even caught the sun on my face as we took in the views over Portsmouth. Lovely gentle drive home along the A272 not much traffic either. The old girl is so comfy.

Lovely to see you. I’m sorry my place ended up so busy. At least people are out and enjoying themselves. The car is a credit to you. The comparison between yours and the other w124 at my place was night and day!

Washed the E55, time for the beast to awake.

Thank you!! Yes, delighted when I found a set. Ride isn’t as bad as I was expecting either 😱

19's do really fill out the arches nicely on a 212. Gives the car a great stance. Even though the ride was amazing on the 17's mine came on, I felt compelled to go to at least 18's as I think the smaller ones can look look a bit lost in the arches. The 19's just take the whole look up another level.

In my opinion, the car looks like it was designed round them.
