What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Changed the transmission ATF on my 2014 E class 220, according to the 4 year, 70'000 mile interval. While it still had 15'000 miles left, it had overrun the time schedule by nearly 2 years, but on the positive side, covid meant very little driving was done during that time.
Anyway, while the 722.9 trans ( stop Start, electric oil pump ) oil is blue coloured, what came out was more like engine oil (or Guinness see pics ) only by shining a light through the plastic containers was the difference visible...in the new fluid, you could see the blue colour, in the old fluid...you could not even see the the light !!! The actual job itself is not difficult as these things go...and having a lift would have made it very easy and quick, but I had it raised on wooden platforms for the front end, and a jack for the rear end,,,which made it very simple to get the car spirit level correct. In total , I drained 9 ltrs from the TC and Sump ( I did not drain the Oil Cooler, which was a mistake, but unlike my previous MB ( 2010 E200. 722.6 trans, which did not have a TC drain plug, and had to be drained via the return cooling pipe) I was unsure how to drain the cooler pipes due to the electric pump. ( perhaps its the same as in the 722.6 trans? pump out 1 litre, refill, and repeat until fresh oil shows? ) And now that it has the new filter I can always revisit the job down the road.
While lying underneath the car, there was quite a sprinkle of water dropping down from some point above the transmision, and on the drivers side. From Air Con, I presume? anyone else have this experience, If it is, its a strange place to have a water vent....or do I have problem? Its definitely not coolant anyway, header tank still full. Any comments about this phenomenon are welcome, Thanks.

Excellent work Jim , I like the duct tape to hold the gasket in place , I must remember that trick .
Im thinking you are right about aircon drips , if the cars isn’t losing any water from anywhere else I wouldn’t worry .

Fixed a corroded Electronic Ignition Lock Control Unit for a Sprinter.

Vehicle Off Road, no part available from Mercedes any time soon with any available parts only being used for new vehicle builds.

Customer very happy.

Nothing parts hard to get here going to be next Tuesday now before parts here .

He bought it with the plate included for a figure I was happy with 😀 it wasn't the cheapest out there but id say it was 1 of the best it was advertised for 4 day's
It’s certainty a one off lovely. When I was young and silly ( still silly ) I sold my Jaguar with reg jag 22 and never charged a penny extra for it .

Booked mine in for it's first B Service. It's not due till October but I was told if I needed a car, get it done now.

I did it online so got a reasonable price of £566.64 including a courtesy car, though for some reason it doesn't include the usual 2 yearly brake fluid change which seems now to be classed as an "Additional Service Item" at an extra £90.54. Most of the dealerships near me are owned by LSH Auto so there's not a lot of competition really as they're all the same fixed price for servicing, my only alternative would be Marshalls of Bolton or Blackburn though there's a fair difference in the costs. For the same service at either of these Marshalls garages, including the hire car and the £10 discount for online booking, the cost would rise to £684.62, with the brake fluid being an extra £116.34.

I may or may not get the brake fluid changed. I appreciate that it's hygroscopic and, as such, more time based than mileage though at 2 years old with only 3,500 miles on it I'm sure that it won't have soaked that much water up and will live to brake another year or possibly longer.

As for the hire/courtesy car, my local dealership used to phone a cab for customers and put it on their account, though this service has now disappeared apparently due to the current climate. I could easily phone a cab myself but it would be the best part of a tenner each way so for a touch more, I may as well have a car from them and get some bits and pieces done in it.

Hi , just had my car serviced B and for some reason the brake fluid was not changed.( Service plan issue but now sorted out )

The brakes on my car are so much smoother so I have concerns that the brake fluid has never been changed.

My car used as a play thing and annual mileage is very low now.

Booked my A service for 13th Sept at MB-Poole.
I'll hang around and drink their coffee in the lounge as it shouldn't take long to do an inspection and oil/filter change.

I know at my local dealership they still aren't providing coffee, although you can still sit down....
