What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Drove 7 miles to the curry house, had food and chat with old mate and drive back. I'm surprised my exciting life doesn't kill me..........

Just got it back from the detailer
Titan tx 155 with a 3yr warranty

That time of the year again. Near 600bhp, rear drive, summer tyres, hibernation time. Today was taken up with a snowfoam wash, Meguirs last touch detail, then a drive to ensure the brakes were fully dry. Filled the tank up to the brim with the addition of fuel stabilizer. Tyres blown up to 45psi to prevent flat spots. Bilthammer Atom mac sprayed on the discs to prevent rust (never had rust on discs previously as the car is garaged, but as I had it, why not) A 1kg bag of silica gel for the interior to stop moisture. Got it from Amazon for about £14 & it has a blue area on it which turns red when it needs dried out (in microwave) Car cover on & Ctek now permanently connected. Weather is supposed to be pretty grim up here for the next few days so took the chance today, freezing but sunny. Sorn tomorrow.

Today I did some improvements to the front seat belts on the W203 C200 Kompressor SE Coupe.
They have been a bit of a pain since I bought the car.
Now much improved.
Detail:

Changed a front ABS sensor on a mates W204 as it was throwing an error. 👍

Also had a Coolant Low error (OM651 ), checked and was indeed low.

Apparently the coolant was changed a few years ago at a local garage!

Bought a new (used) Air Box for W212 OM651.

Always annoyed me that when we started servicing these ourselves (stopped using Main Dealer) there was a 1 screw missing from the air box.

Sorted now. :)

Went for a wee spin. Winter tyres on, first time on the autobahn… hence the low MPG… 😬

Oh is that why the car cluster is all red and binging and bonging while I drive?

That's door to door from South Wales to (near) Frankfurt, via SW London for a bit then pissing around for same day corona tests in Guildford ;)

Drove back from Frankfurt… to London at least. Very satisfying round number of miles door to door. Said goodbye to the autobahn, a shame my winter tyres are only rated to 130 😬

Driving 500 miles on just under 3/4 of a tank… not too bad! Also not to shabby to get that MPG when I wasn’t taking it slow, especially in Germany, along with some traffic.

Driving in the continent helps you to understand what these cars are really made for, and how under-utilised they are in the UK… and how bad our roads are!

Also makes you understand how MB utterly neglected to take the UK into account when they messed with the gear change points after the diesel emissions software update… it works well in Europe. Not so much when you have a 70mph speed limit.

Took my A205 around the Silverstone Lap of Lights in the week. Fortunate to be placed at the front of the group so the view was amazing, with just the BMW pace car ahead. It was all a bit chilly but braving the drive roof down made the view and experience even better.

Will be the one time I can say truthfully that I set off from Silverstone F1 grid, even if the pace car maxed out at 7mph all the way around the circuit😉

I was up and out early this morning, with two cars travelling in a convoy - Mrs D in one and me in the other - and the kids still in bed.

First we had one measured up by a specialist tailor who makes car covers for some very special cars and customers. It was templated whilst I was there (so I can order another) and will be finished off and posted to me early next week.

Then we dropped the second off to have the wheels refurbished and detailed.

I went last year,, that 2 was my 1st time setting off from the grid 😁

Tried Auto finesse trim restorer on the scuttle of both cars which were seriously faded . I had last tried Autoglym bumper stuff 18 months ago ?
Im very pleased with it but as with all these things we will see how long it lasts .
This started a couple of weeks ago when I noticed the pollen filter on the E class was damp and a bit moldy, so water must have been getting to it somehow .
The scuttle didn't fit flush to the screen above the filter so I had taken it off and cleaned it up before using some black silicone under it before refitting . It all went together well , with no leaks or gaps .
To back this up , I also took off the pollen filter section that fits to the bulkhead . I cleaned the seal and added some silicone grease before refitting it all .
I ran a bacteria aircon bomb through the car and fitted a new pollen filter as well .
The scuttle clean up today was the final freshen up . I also tried it on any black engine plastics . It all looked good .
The end of my fingers are now blue ish ,I should have worn gloves . Mrs W said it looks like I had used my hands to pleasure a blue smurf (not sure what that’s all about )

Sounds exactly like something Mrs Spiky would say....I'm now slightly worried that we're married to the same person 🤣
