What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

HI Matt, thanks for your reply. My main problem right now is it takes 4-5 attempts to start the car and get it stay at idle. It will start, idle for a few secs, then die. Repeat 4-5 times before it settles. Ive changed the crankshaft position sensor, that has made no diffeence. What do you think mate?
Did you fit genuine oem? Mine was bloody expensive from the stealer, but I didn’t want to take any chances on a crucial bit of kit, and it was a bit of a pig to change. Could be so many things, any codes? I know oil from your/our RMS finds it’s way onto the 02 connectors, but hasn’t given me any probs. Like I said everyday is a school day with this car, and so easy to get lead down a rabbit hole, could be fuel pressure maybe.

HI Matt, I took it to MSL, very reputable company. They said to fit a BOSCH one, because its identical to OEM. But the problem still exists!!! Fuel pressure is good. The car ran 545bhp on MSL's dyno. No way it would do that with poor fuel pressure. So Im a bit stuck on this one!!

Hello mate, yes I agree, she must be getting plenty of juice. The only other thing, other than all the obvious stuff, it could be an injector not fully closing causing a hard start? Faulty cam pos sensor, Map sensor, coolant temp sensor, would have thought she would have thrown a code with most of those.

It is sunny and bright, car has not been driven for a month so I’m going to treat it to a run to a gastro pub about 30 miles from where I live.🚗🍗🍗🍺🚗

Hi , changed the Serpentine belt on the M276 engine.

Mileage of my car is 40,000 and belt was in perfect condition.

The cost of the new Mercedes belt was heart stopping.

Made a dirty one even dirtier. The roads really are filthy at the moment, especially rural roads. I can’t wait to see them clean - and stay clean - again.

Got mine ready for MOT tomorrow

This morning I replaced the Valeo wipers on the E280 with a pair of Bosch Aerotwin Flat Wipers A949S (ECP Pt. No. 485 77 4090).
What a difference ... Worth the extra cost !
The Valeos cleaned the screen, but were noisy and distracting.

Well it is that time of the year for insurance, and given all the articles about insurance companies having to offer the same deal to new and old clients I wondered what would happen.
Well the renewal quote turned up and it was £70 more than last year,I had stayed with the insurer for the past two years as it only went up £5,so I went to Confused and put all the details in and got a quote that saved me £137,so I contacted the original insurer and cancelled the automatic renewal saying they were to expensive, went back onto Confused and found that the original insurer had by magic got to within £3 of my best quote, but I will go with Confused as you get a £20 voucher to use at Halfords.

Think I'm going to have to rest mine for a bit as the brassica harvest has now made it to the field next to me and the mud is horrendous on the road.

Ordered new seals (257 & 260) as they've gone hard with age and started to perish. Plus all the associated clips needed to refit the sill trims after the old ones inevitably disintegrate when removed 😂

Have just had a full transmission service done to the E280 CDI Sports Estate.
Fluid change / torque converter drain / pan clean-out / new filter / new gasket / the MB kit even includes a set of new pan screws.
I bought the kit from MB Newcastle.
I didn't do the job myself .... I don't have an overhead lift and it's not a job to do lieing on your back in the garden.
Rodley Motors in Bradford did it for me.
All went well .... There were no problems prior to the service - - - and none after.
The change took approx 9 litres of ATF.

Following on from the full transmission service done to the E280 CDI Sports Estate ...
This time it was the turn of the C200 Kompressor for a transmission service.
Fluid change / pan clean-out / TC and cooler flush / new filter / new gasket.
I bought the parts from MB Newcastle and bought the ATF from Opie Oils (Fuchs ATF 4134 to MB Spec. 236.14)
Again, I didn't do the job myself.

The old ATF was the worst I have ever seen .... A dark colour and a pretty rotten smell.
I guess this was the first time it has ever been changed.
There is no drain plug on the T/C.
The transmission has has a double-flush to get all the crud out of it.#
Dipping the transmission now - the ATF is the expected cherry-red colour.

Despite years of apparent neglect, there were no noticeable issues with the changes.
They were as smooth as you would expect.
It's definitely smoother now .... although - Not a lot.

God .... It's been an expensive month !

I’m glad I read this post….. I had forgotten all about my Halfords £20 voucher!

So, if Missy has gone does that mean you're having a name change? What are you going to call this one??
