What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

After collecting the parts yesterday, I had a bit of time today so sorted this out (boot lid spring)...

Although only one was broken, I decided to replace the pair. I even managed to dig out my genuine Mercedes-Benz workshop tool spring puller that I'd not used in about 15 years..!

Whilst I was at it I fitted my subtle little AMG badge to the upper dash (not for everyone I know, but I wanted to break up the expanse of that trim), replaced my centre caps, and went for a little drive ☺️.

I do love this old thing, it even makes a mundane trip to the supermarket an event...

Just looks so ‘right’ - they’ve aged brilliantly

That's a good looking motor 👍

I love how these and the E55's (210's) look, especially in profile. The wheels, skirts & bumpers just finish them off perfectly. And it's a subtle look. Which is how I like them.

Thanks 🍻

I agree, nothing too flashy or in your face; just the right amount of "tweaks" for those in the know.

Booked in for MOT tomorrow…. So I’ll give her a wash and check in the morning, then drop her off and pace up and down like an expectant father 🤔🤞…..

Dropped one at the main dealer for a service this morning, and collected it an hour or so ago.

B-service, spark plugs and brake fluid all completed, so it’s good to go for another year.

I prepaid for a Service Care Plan in September 2020 when they were doing the 20% off promotion, and I’ve just used it for the first time.

Remarkable value, as it ended up costing less than half what it would have done had I settled the bill today and included a car at no cost.

Is that because it’s usually overpriced, or because it was a bargain? I would say it was a bit expensive but a lot of a bargain in this case.

Just finished putting the drivers door back together. The window mechanism was worn and had about 3 teeth rounded of so wouldn't close properly, i guess its because the window drops a little on the R129 every time you open the door. Cut out the offending section of teeth, welded in a new section of steel, made a template of a good section and cut new teeth, greased all the mechanism, all good as new. Saved about £200 for a second hand one. Was a bit of a faff and had to araldite some clips back on the door card but all good now. 3 and a half hours, mig wire, scrap metal and 3 rivets. 😇

I washed the oem car mats using carpet shampoo and pressure washer on light setting, should have taken some photos to upload. It's impossible to get original AMG matts, would love to replace with oem matts for w211. 🙂

If anyone knows a good place that do excellent custom matts, let me know as I'm struggling to source the original ones. Will need AMG embossed on the matt and must be close to oem spec.

Thanks
