What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Later today I'm going to wash it. Again. For the fourth time in four weekends and it hasn't even been anywhere.

It's all down to the cowboy builders two doors down who've been angle grinding out old pointing over the last few weeks. No water in sight, no cladding on the scaffold. Just clouds and clouds of sodding dust.

Every weekend I was both cars, every Monday they're coated again.

Later on, I'll pressure was the patio again. And clean the garden furniture again.

But I'm going to make the builders pay to get all my windows cleaned. Again. And skylights. Again. And they can clean the front balcony for me. Again.....

Corner cutting cheapskate ****s.

Might wash it in a few minutes prior to BOTG if i feel like it, if not it arrives dirty....
Mine is currently sitting at my indies waiting for a new coolant expansion tank to be fitted.
Just hoping its finished before they close at 5 30pm.

Got a message "Coolant level low" for the second time in 3 weeks this morning, but couldn't find the source of the leak.
Ran it up to temperature and under pressure there is a pinprick hole in the side of the coolant filler tank.
Ran it down to my nearest indy and luckily MB Southampton have a tank in stock. Supposed to be a quick job once it arrives, but leaving little time to wash off the mountain of tree pollen its collected in the last 2 days!

Like above, mine might just arrive dirty..............if I get it back in time.

Update. Collected car with 30 mins to spare. New expansion tank, labour and anti freeze top up =£153
I noticed it looked cleaner than I'd left it and yes, they had washed it. A few water marks so a coat of Sonax BSD and its looking ready for BOTG tomorrow.
A few photos later, I'm off swimming with Grandson #1

I love Sonax BSD, it's my "go to" quick detailer 👌🏼

I wish I could've made it to BOTG, as with most weekends though I have to spend 23 hours in a yellow van instead 🤦🏼‍♂️

Finally got around to doing a recording of the 'new' exhaust ...only 2 years after the event

Gave the wagon a wash for tomorrow's beach trip...

Also made sure the essential beach toys are charged and in the car. RC digger and MB Actros tipper truck.
My mates 3 year old will be with us and he has a dump truck so will keep us busy for a little while.received_851547989571228.jpeg

Fixed the rear wash wipe on the A Class (W169). Every time she used the rear washer, nothing happened except a puddle appearing under the car! The 90 degree connector attached to the washer pump had split. Replaced it with a straight piece of clear tubing. Sorted.

Whizzed down to Benz on the Green. I forgot to check final scores when I landed at home, but it was close to 7 hours, 330 miles and 20.1 MPG (round trip) last time I checked on the way back.

A bit of fun/chance to share, and shamelessly plagiarised from the other side (currently running a c4000 posts).
If it's been done before, I couldn't find it.

Can it survive thread assassination on this side - who knows :dk:.

I'll begin:

Dropped it off for an A service/rear washer jet replacement.
I looked at it out the window … It was still there, so that’s good 😊

Looked at the rain falling on it and thought I'd leave cleaning off all the bugs it collected from the BOTG trip until tomorrow

Dragged these out from under the spare bed where they have lived for 6 months .

I spent two hours this afternoon getting the E class onto front axle stands and loosening all the relevant bolts and the lower ball joint popped on both sides , so when dry weather arrives tomorrow afternoon I should be able to swap the old parts out without too much difficulty (he says hopefully) .
I think the parts cost £200 all in so with “free” Labour and some knuckle skin it should be a cheap ish job in MB terms .

Put the private plates on after V5 and retention cert turned up.
We've had them for 20 years now so it's always odd seeing either car without them on

On the E400, the rear has a handy frame on it, but oddly poking out from one side (just, sort of...) was an old sticky pad.
So that meant the frame had to come off and I had to spend 10 mins with cleaner and even green spirits getting all of it off:wallbash:

No I idea what that amateur had thought he (or she) was doing as it's a factory frame but it is clean behind now.

Several trips to charity shops and the recycling centre today; just as we have been 2-4 days every week for the last 6 weeks!

I I can’t believe we have so much stuff, but I guess if you have the space then you fill it. My wife being seriously into clothes is the main reason though!

Any way, this little car has really earned it’s keep doing all these trips, full to the ceiling.

New side repeaters on; it doesn't really show on the photo but the old ones were yellowing a bit, plus the seals had gone so they were full of condensation.

Then on with the genuine AMG valve caps (reassuringly expensive 🤦🏼‍♂️)...

I also managed to pull the cluster out without cracking it to replace a dash bulb too, which I'd been putting off for weeks due to "the fear" 😂.

Oh and I put my sign up that my Missus bought me...

Not sure what she means? 🤷🏼‍♂️😂
