What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

I replaced the battery on my S211 today with a Bosch. I put a new MB (Varta) on just over 5 years ago. I guess retirement and lock-down doesn't do them any favours.

Took stuff to charity shops and the tip. It lives a Rock & Roll lifestyle.

I’ve been cleaning & recolouring the roof (in between the rain) this week
just need to start on the reproofing coats now

Opened the box of goodies ordered for the SL, (used one of the Mercedes dealers on eBay).
Replaced the oil and filter, all 16 plugs, both air filters, the pollen filter and then took the pano roof off. Delighted that the soft top emerged and did its think faultlessly. The rolled up towel placed in the rear window on its way in did it’s job too, as the rear screen is not creased.
Planning a good run tomorrow morning.

16 plugs that’s just plain greedy 😉😂😂

I pressure washed off the dust, again.

My neighbour's doing a major refurb two doors down and, recently, the builders have been gradually grinding out all the pointing. My car has been pretty much stationary for two weeks but I've still had to wash it both weekends.

I'm not moaning. The house was a shabby, poorly-maintained HMO before. When it's done I'm sure is going to look fantastic. It's at the business end of out little 11 house cul de sac and so is the focal point.

****ing dusty at the moment, though.

Is it worth putting a cover over it?

It'll be fine soon; EVENTUALLY they'll have got all the mortar out. It just seems to be one of the things they do when they don't have something more important to do - so they've ended up spinning it out over a number of weeks.

ETA I just heard the angle grinder fire up; I didn't realise that they'd only done the 1st floor & chimneys; they're doing the groud floor today......

Took a trip to my local dealer today to order all the parts so I can do a service, unsurprisingly nothing was in stock, not even the instrument cluster bulbs.

1 x Mass airflow sensor
16 x spark plugs
16 x ignition leads
2 x air filters
1 x oil filter
1 x pollen filter
1 x steering damper
1 x set of front discs and pads
1 x special tool/plug boot remover
4 x AMG valve caps
2 x side repeaters (gone a bit yellow)
2 x instrument cluster bulbs

A fairly intimidating bill 😂🙈. I don't  need the front brakes, but I'm fitting refurbished calipers and braided hoses so didn't want to let the side down. I tried to order new sound deadening/insulation for the bulkhead as well but it's now on the obsolete list unfortunately. The fuel filter was replaced not long ago too, so at least that's something I didn't have to purchase!

Thanks for that, I got them all at cost +5% though from my "friendly" parts man. We worked together at the same dealership years ago and he looks after me. Genuine parts never made so much sense! 👍🏼

Treated the old girl to some new wheels and Tyres and some numpty promptly scraped across the front of the bumper with his door so its in for a bumper respray on Thursday no insurance involved not worth it, goes well with the exhaust and other mods, and thats it for now nothing else needed just upkeep and another machine polish when its fine been 12 months since the last one.

Nice motor, love the new wheels, simple 5 spokes, can't beat um! :) 👍
