What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

I have always liked the look of the SLK but at 6 foot 3 I find them a little to lacking in head room.
I’m 6’ 0” on a moderate day, and relatively large frame but I fit in it very easily. It’s a very easy car to live with. A friend is 6’4” and had plenty of leg and head room.

If it gets too claustrophobic then you could always open the roof. Not the car for you though if the E lacks presence, as it’s surprisingly compact in footprint.

I didn't mention the E Class lacking presence? 🤔

I have relatively short legs and a longer torso, admittedly it was a previous generation SLK I tried though. In that I had to hunker down to be below the top of the windscreen 👍😂

Sorry if I misunderstood 👍🏻

This is what made me think you didn’t think the E-Class had enough presence.
have thought about an E class convertible but sitting low down now puts me off, and me being over 60 and
this car not having the presence of the gle.

The first generation was indeed tighter in the inside

Our hound has "Doggles" 😂

That car was an SLK 55, wonderful little cars.

Remind me, is yours a 167 generation GLE?
Yes, got it brand new 2016 - W166- previous merces since 2003, w203's
The slk, someone on our road has a yellow one, looks nice and I was trying to get our daughter to get one as it's a lot smaller than the sl and I believe they are all convertibles. She went for the Audi/tt, nice little car for her she loves it.

Your slk/55 massive engine - I'm not sure what the one on our road is but very certain it's not a 55 like yours.

I love the shape of the E class convertible more so with the roof down but stepping down from a big car and very low down for an old guy like me stops me from going to the dealer and checking one out and it lacks presence - the amg looks good but running costs would not be for me as one of the family had a cls AMG and once the warranty ran our, he sold it at 5 years old as the parts were super expensive, ie too much to justify the cost as like me he hardly drives his cars.

I can't justify the cost now of the base gle plus a few extras coming to 84k - so if I change my car, it wont be costing more than 50, 60 max, most likely a a 2 year old gle but undecided

Got the winter wheels and tyres on , we will probably have the warmest winter and no snow again, but I know the one year that I don’t put winter Tyres and wheels on them I will get caught out

A GL 63 with winter tyres is ready for anything 👍🏻

I’m selling my GL 420 that I have had for six years to a friend and I used winter wheels and tires on that.
When I bought the GL 63 about three months ago I remembered that a good friend of mine that also had one a few years ago and I told him I’d bought this one and he promptly said did I want to buy some winter wheels and tyres from him as he had changed and bought a BMWX7 so the wheels wouldn’t fit so we did a deal and now they fitted I’m sorted for the winter . The Tyres has got plenty of life in them and the wheels are also genuine AMG.
