What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

So yesterday I gave her a quick wash and vacuum, checked levels, pressures etc....because today I drove her to Newquay in Cornwall for a week of fishing, surfing and maybe a beer or two!

This is the furthest I've driven her since I bought her in Oct ....and since I fitted the new turbo. No issues...except!....as I started the car to leave Looe and finish the journey to Newquay the EML popped up....bugger. A quick check on torque showed a EGR fault.....but luckily it was just a lose connection plug.....a quick tighten, reset the code... and it did not come back... so hopefully that's it.
Averaged 41 mph on the dash..I reset as i left home and this includes one cold and two coolish starts......which translated to only half a mpg less in reality when I refilled just out of interest.
Happy with that....

Have a wonderful time 🏖️

I’ve had early starts and late finishes every day this week, getting up between 0300 and 0500 each morning, but Baby D wanted to go and look at cars, so we were up again at 0500 with almost 200 miles under our belt just after 0900!

As we left the weather app forecast that the rain would stop at 0600x and we wouldn’t see more rain throughout the rest of the journey and for the rest of the day. How wrong was that!? We had to drive through heavy rain in both directions.

In all, we did almost 400 miles today, all except 10 miles with the blooming roof up. In the 33,000 miles I’ve done in the car, I had probably only done 50 miles with the roof up, until today that is! The rain has to be heavy for me to put the roof up!

The car is absolutely filthy now, but in my book, a car which is dirty on the outside and clean on the inside is a loved car! Ours now looks like it has a satin Magno finish! 😁

Changed the battery in my key. Range was down to about 6 feet ......now I reckon I could unlock it from Mars! Should have done it before. I have to be more careful with the key now though. I'm staying in a second floor apartment in Cornwall....I went onto the balcony to show my son the new improved range....and as I put the keys down I accidently popped the boot open which still had my fishing gear in. My son watched the car while I Usain Bolted it down to close it! Even before I changed the battery I once came back to my car to find the boot open.....I must have accidentally opened it as I put the keys in my pocket and not noticed as I walked away. Luckily I was only gone 5 minutes and the petfood in the boot was still there upon my return. Be quite nice to disable remote boot unlocking....can it be done without a trip to the dealer or indie? Slightly disappointed to see the words "Made i China" on my key PCB though..... but yes Merc do make a lot of parts there now.

My cloned key was made in china PCB. The locksmith even told me their from china . It also would open my boot from 100 yards ,even through the walls at work . The original mercedes key wouldn't do it though.

Up and out early again today, this time for a car event in Ripon in North Yorkshire. Despite the
snowy start, there were plenty of nice cars in attendance. Mrs D and Junior D joined Baby D and I, and even Junior D’s new boyfriend (third date!).

Over the last two days we’ve driven for 13 hours covering almost 650 miles at an average of 23 mpg, visiting two car events at polar opposite ends of England (North-South). The start of (car) show season is fill a couple of months away!

I always thought the Bugatti seems like it's saying "Ooh, Matron" !

Had the oil and filter changed today - massive saving on MB and Indy prices.
The mechanic also noted a rattle to the oblong pipe leading to air filter and fixed that.
Genuine MB oil, filter and gaskets used.
