Why do some AMG owners drive like knobs?

It might well be fun for those driving but often the drivers have little experience of handling such cars properly. Given that the activity is all about 'look at me aren't I cool' then we can safely say that the drivers who partake in this 'fun' are both immature and deeply insecure, hence the need to show off. In this video we see exactly that. Interestingly the audience seems to have an average age of about 14. Impressive huh? You need to fast forward to about one minute to see the accident, luckily no-one seems to have been hurt.

If you need to do this then do it properly on the track.

The problem is not confined to AMG drivers and of course is not necessarily inclusive of all performance car owners, just the dickkeads!

Yes I haven't been living on Mars so have seen that tedious piece of footage several times already thank you. Not really sure what the point is you are making in terms of its correlation to my post, buy I'm sure you have it all worked out in your mind so no worries :dk:

There was a post a couple of months ago on 'How to Do a Burn-Out'.

Plenty of people chipped in with their opinions and advice, but there was never the suggestion that the OP, or anyone else, was a d**khead.

Ego can play a part in daft driving, but also that rebel feeling - 'I Just want to have some fun'.

I am not suggesting you do a burn-out in the High Street, you will get nicked most likely anyway, but occasionally some adrenalin flowing through your veins makes you feel alive!

The ability to double my heart rate just by flooring the throttle is one reason I drive a SL63 :D

Cheers,
Robert

I can't believe I have to explain it to you. The thread is all about people driving dangerously on the public highway in high performance cars (see post number 1). Your post on the other hand indicates that this sort of driving is fun and that people who object to it are killjoys. We're not, we just have respect for the law and other human beings.

As you can see, someone in the (not unique) video has way more money than sense or talent and they crash into some street furniture whilst trying to drive a fast powerful car in a really impressive way . What if someone had been walking past or stood there? This is not taking place on a private racetrack, it's a public highway and the 'driver' of the car obviously can't drive. There is no explanation other than the fact that the driver is a dickhead. Would you call him clever and daring?

Not sure if this is the correct section of the forum to post in but this is just a rant about idiotic C63 AMG drivers I see here in Aberdeen.

I'm all for enjoying the noise this car makes but I see so many idiots and retards driving around residential/town areas at illegal speeds and making a racket. Perhaps they think it makes them look cool, but they don't realise they just look like a bunch of knobs.

Last night there was a nice looking white C63 Coupe (BV12 XXX) parked at my flat's parking area and not long after I went inside I heard this car driving along the road and he was driving like an absolute moron in a narrow street with cars parked on both sides of the road.

We have enough Civic Type R's and Vauxhall Corsa's doing this sort of thing on our road, we don't need more retards!

Aberdeen is particularly bad for that , especially along the seafront where the boy racers tend to congregate . Alas there are probably too many immature people with money burning holes in their pockets in the city .

They need to lighten up frankly! HTH :thumb:

I'm all for live and let live , and will admit I like stepping off smartly in my SL with the top down to hear the nice noise my new exhaust makes , but I don't do it near peoples' homes where children might be sleeping .

We get a couple of boy racers with VERY noisy cars which speed by at night waking people up - that I consider antisocial and hope they are caught sometime.

I wouldn't want to generalise or stereotype people but you are right.
Too many young people in Aberdeen who earn a few bobs working offshore and they go out and splurge on an expensive car to do stupid things on public road.

Sorry, but the way half of you go on here you would object to just about anything that YOU deemed not sociable and/or law abiding and that seems to include just about anything other than driving like Ms. Daisy! You then produce tired videos like this to justify your narrow minded viewpoint!

Anyway **** it I can't be fagged with it today so I'm out of this one! This forum needs splitting up into the dullards and those who haven't got a severe dose of the Victors with one foot in their coffin already!

Wow, so you insult people by saying they are dull because they respect the law and people around them?

I can't stand people who think they are living life on the edge when in fact they are just behaving like a poorly educated child and confuse having respect to others around them with living a boring life.

If you think driving like a lunatic on a residential street is an acceptable behaviour I think you would be the in the minority. What if an unsuspecting kid or someone's dog/cat jumps out on to the street and because you are doing stupid speed you are unable to stop in time? All this, because you were having a bit of 'fun' at the expense of others.

One reason why I never acknowledged I worked offshore when purchasing car insurance, it invariably loaded the premium

Nothing related to AMG or nice / powerful cars, in my opinion, the sport or 'looked after' cars are often to be spotted in the left hand lane plodding along without any major disturbance to other road users.

To me it seems that the usual every day car types e.g 'ford focus' which cause most nuisance by driving like absolute knob's 99% of the time.

I wouldn't get crossed with an AMG/M/S/RS owner who gets to open up the taps on an odd occasion, its very hard to end up on a clear stretch these days, judge owner by the appearance of the car, if the car is clean with no signs of damage, it must be looked after and driven properly...

The white C63 in the vid looks clean & tidy...well did. I can'y believe these grown men were 'showing off' to what appeared to be , a group of 14 -19yr old kids ...no doubt these same guys bemoan the same kids when they are in the car parks at night doig the same with their Corsa's etc...Sad!

Possibly the funniest post I have read this year. And I say that with one foot firmly in my coffin.

Can I be a real Victor Dullard and point out that Miss Daisy never actually drove?

I don't think that it needs to be split up really, most over the over-excited posters seem to have left the forum already - Maybe they left you behind?

They are knobs, that's why they chose amg

I would like to disassociate myself in every way from that remark because I know some very nice people who are AMG owners. However, besides that, may I suggest that name calling does not achieve anything worthwhile especially when in such a childish context?

I would much rather listen to the dulcet tones from a well made V8 than listen to a tinny halford's stereo being thrashed within an inch of it's life.

Tony.

Nope, wrong again. Driving dangerously IS against the law and puts others peoples safety and property at unnecessary risk, nothing to do with what I deem is OK.

Why is this so hard for you to understand? Driving dangerously in built up areas is the whole subject of this thread. The fact that you think these people should be left alone because they're just 'having fun' is horrifying.

As for wheeling out videos to demonstrate the point, there are scores and scores of such videos on the internet, 'aww bless 'em, look at little (insert dickhead's name here) having fun in his car'.

The accident in that video wasn't reported to police as it should have been. I wonder how much the sign repair cost the taxpayer? The car is believed to be wearing false number plates too but hey its just a bit of fun. Are you gaining an insight now into the type of person that drives like that?

I own an AMG and I am very gay, well happy, that is I'm excited by it and enjoy it. I also never ever dress in Timmy Mallet sunglasses, stand outside it and rev it for the benefit of the local children or Mr Kite.

I bet you like fishfingers though Bruce. :p
