AMG e55
In order to decide once and for all whether or not I have a flat spot or an AMG 55 characteristic with my car I need to try another AMG 55k

I have discuss this on the engine tech threads and most people think it's just the SC clutch coming in whilst driving slowly, I'm not so sure hence this request.

Only need to drive down a street, don't need to drive quickly or floor it in any way.

PM if you can help for 10 mins one evening, many thanks, Dave. :thumb:

Mine is the exact same thing.

It is clutch engagement. I noticed it straight after stage1 and its got worse after other components have been fitted.

I believe its is due to the fact that you running more boost, I guess you can almost called it "LAG" lol, I have been told that this can be made made better when custom tuning the car, I will let you know if it does.

You should not worry about it, you just have to get used to it..

Thanks Paul, to be honest, I am living with it okay now I understand what is going on, Steen at Kleemann is asking about for me to see what they can come up with, would love to try a stock e55 just to see what it's like through this stage at low revs.
Just been 2 miles down the road for a pint of milk, launched it there and back, TC in full use trying to deliver the awesome power without wheel spin:devil:

No problem.

When standard, the clutch engagement on mine was very smooth.

The TC light goes crazy! lol, have you thought about what would happen if you turned it off and smash it? I believe mine would not stop spinning till maybe 4th gear!?? LOL!

I saw your thread about this, and I wanted to answer it but I was abroad.

I remember when test driving an AMG with sprintbooster recently that had exactly what you describe. It felt as if you could freely rev it for a split second before the car engages and lurches forward with considerable force. Once the sprintbooster was removed this completely stopped.

I am no mechanic, but its not the first time i've seen/heard about this and I honestly think it might have something to do with the communication between the throttle and the gearbox. I've heard of this on high performance automatics (supra's and the like). The throttle module you say you have fitted that is made by kleemann might be tricking the gearbox/car somehow that there is no throttle being applied until 1100rpm rather than 800rpm for example. This would cause the transmission to engage later than it should giving you an 'immediate' throttle response feel, which it really isn't, its just a very aggressive setting.

Thats my 2p!

dvb247, this answers why i cant feel anything on my standard E55, i think Paul has answered your question for you :)

PS: bet that milk went flying everywhere ;) lol

Adam230k, the buck that I feel happened before I put the power throttle module on, what I would agree with is it is a lot more aggressive so throttle control is vital, this car had a sprintbooster put on it by the previous owner, it was removed within days, it made the throttle pedal like a switch, described to me as un-drivable!, thank you for the info, it's all helping me learn about the car:D
