My E250 Coupe has a slow puncture that may need the tyre replaced.
It has Continental 255/35R/18 tyres on it with a rating of 94Y.
I have had difficulty getting one of these locally and the usual tyre centres are not confident of getting one soon.
I notice online some of the other brands...
Ok folks, I have a C32, just recently running into some emissions problems at MOT.
Now, when I first got the car, precious owner said he used 95 octane (std unleaded). I checked the handbook first fill up, and the manual says 95 min. Check the filler cap cover, 95 octane again.
Talking...
Reading the MO or not to MO thread got me thinking about something I don't understand in my car's handbook.
E320CDI estate, 2005 vintage. The book states that normal summer tyres are 225/55R16 95W.
However.
The same handbook states for the E320CDI saloon - 225/55/R16 95V.
This puzzles me...
Hi All,
My fronts are wearing on the shoulders. A tracking and alignment check shows no issues. But the tyres are a speed rating less than stipulated. Will a lower speed rating (and consequent reduced side wall stiffness) effect wear?
Cheers.
Hi
I new to replace some tyres on my C36AMG - The Z rated tyres are a very high cost
Is anyone runner on or Y or W rated tyres
Any issues ?
What is the best of the 2nd rate brands (IE Avon or Hankook) ??
As I (constantly) pine for an SL... my main concerns often relate to reliability and safety.
My w208 scores highly on both of these, in my mind, and i have doubts over the old SL's.
Reliability I guess is a question for any of you current owners. Is it more of an issue for the R107, or are...
Quick question... does anyone have a list/table of the multiplier that various professions have on insurance premiums?
E.g.
Teacher (5)
Teacher - Private (4)
Teacher - Public (6)
or something like that? Would be interesting to see which way it goes!

Hi all, just joined & have to say these forums seems to be a very informative place but although after a few searchs i cannot find a conclusive answer to my questions.
I just bought a 2002 clk320 with amg alloys so have 225/45/17 front & 245/40/17 rear. I'm looking to replace all four tyres...
Hi, probably a stupid question, but the manual doesn't cover it.
Rear wiper motor seems to be on fuse 14 in the rear fuse box (C220 diesel estate) but 14 is listed as a spare with no rating in the Haynes manual, can anyone shed some light as to the rating of this fuse??
The switch...
This was apparantly listed on the other forum but I can't find and info.
Interested to see what the figures are with all the talk of ECU mapping and the Brabus chip being pulled a while ago.
The 5 speed on mine comes up as 722.699
Cheers
Adam
Euro NCAP the organisation which rates car safety using their star system is to introduce a new safety rating system for NEW models tested in 2009. Unfortunately they have no plans to "rerate" existing car ratings using the new system meaning a 5 star rating pre 2009 will be different to a 2009...
Wondering if it's worth uprating them to 100 cell race cats - will be worth it if they are 200 cell or more, but nobody seems to know!
Surely somebody here will? :)
Hi
Badly need some new tyres for the front of my C36 and not sure what speed rating they need to be. I was guessing at W?
Don't really want to trust what's on the front at the moment, but they're all marked as Y.....
Incidentally, I'm looking to get Goodyear Assymetrics but have Avon...
From today's Financial Times:
"Tata Motors' $2.3bn debt-funded deal for Jaguar and Land Rover has led Standard & Poor’s to cut its credit ratings because of concerns about growing indebtedness.
"The agency left the Indian group on credit watch after cutting its already non-investment grade...
According to the owner's manual, I can use a minimum 87 octane petrol if the car has no catalytic converter, minimum 95 octane if it does. Anyone know if my car came equipped with a cat converter? It's a 1990 230CE
As some users of this forum know I an quite interested in the safety aspects of car design and after looking at the swedish FOLKSAM site http://www.folksam.se/engelsk/index.htm and the EuroNCAP site http://www.euroncap.com/ recently I was struck by one niggling detail. The frontal collision...
Changed the pads today and had to draw off some excess brake fluid, and I was absolutely paranoid about spilling drops.
Done some research and found several sources (google.co.uk: brake fluid paint) that suggest that glycol-based (DOT 3 and DOT 4) brake fluid strips paint - as per normal...
I've been looking at the wheel options for my new E Class and the standard wheels are 7.5J 16" 225/55 5 spoke jobbies. A possible upgrade is to the 8J 16" 225/55 5 spoke twin ones.
I understood the 16" to be the profile, i.e the higher the number the bigger the alloy wheel and the 225/55 to...
