1998 W210 E-class 300TD - trans fluid?

Were any E300TD built later than 22/9/99.? I doubt it.

No after Sept 99 it is all that new fangled electronic cdi stuff!!! Never seen a 300td that late. But there are odd things done by manufacturers to use up stock etc. Friends ML is a facelift according to epc and chassis number but it doesnt have the bumpers or flashers in the mirrors. Dealer cant understand when i get parts for him and he has had it from new ex Germany. You never know.

I don't have a car yet, just doing as much research as I can think of.
I've just about got my head around petrol cars and now I hve to start again on diesels
Mind you my thinking is MB reliable?

Auto Box Dip stick!

can some one explain why i cannot pull the didp sticki out to check fluid, is there one!

What car do you have?? If it is after late 1996 or so and is 5 speed auto you probably do not have a dipstick. What you see is a cap on the dipstick tube with a tamper seal on it. You have to break the seal to remove it then buy/steal/borrow a dipstick. The dipstick is too long to stay in place it is removed when finished and the cap put on.
