1999 C43 AMG Salvage Repairable CAT D

Im still thinking that no provincial Italian one (was 1st registered here then over there)

Do we have a forum prize for the winner? :D

Too many digits for an Italian plate. There are six after the initial area code, there should only be five.

Someone needs to go and see this car.....

Danish plate!

I think we have a winner: :D

Look under current:

Although, as DM said we will only know when someone sees it.

I have contacted the seller to ask if he knows :)

Its a 55 Kompressor engine from a 211 or 230.

Everyone keep away ITS MINE!!!!!

Lol. Only joking.

I need to know if it runs or not.

Beauty.

Gotta be worth a run up to Brum Olly ....

It's Black , its a C55 ( and a very special one too if its a Kompressor ) ...

And best of all , it's under 4 grand ...

Buy it, even if you have to sit on it for 6 months till you can get it up to scratch , you would have the ultimate Q car , and it would live up to your user name ...

This was bought from Copart auctions formerly Universals hence the powered by VB2 photo.
Why sell it on? Seems a bit sinister to me. Can't see that a small amount of damage would effectively make this a Cat D

He's most likely bought it from Universal Salvage auctions online and is trying to sell it for more than he paid for it before it's even been delivered. It's a fairly sensible business idea since there's no comeback on salvage.
The Cat D thing could be because it's a stolen recovered with slight damage.

If it is a 5.5 supercharged V8 and the engine runs it's worth £3750 all day long.
I wouldn't worry about where the number plates are from either. The fact is it's RHD and the insurance companies have sorted out ownership. Just apply for a logbook from the DVLA using the chassis number. It must have been UK registered if a UK insurance company paid out on it. It could have been running around on false foreign plates.

I rang the guy up when it was listed up for £3500, he wont have the car till tuesday. He thinks it drives. Here's how I see it, if i had done that conversion, i would definatly buy it back from the insurers. Why has the guy not done that? May be because it never did run properly. Thats my thoughts.

Thanks, I know having been involved in salvage in the past, but I fail to see why such a rare car if indeed genuine would not have been repaired or an insistence of repair by the owner. Surely someone that owns a C55 and with a Kompressor would know it's true worth!

Unless the car had already been sold on by the original enthusiast and was now owned by someone who didn't understand (or care) what it's really worth.

It could simply be that he needed the insurance cash for something else, so the car never got sorted out

If it was stolen and the owner's insurance paid out then the insurance company owns the car. If it then turned up years later the insurance company just auction it to get some money back.
That's one theory but I guess we'll never know....

So, If it runs then I suggest we all buy it as the MBClub pool car. Imagine track day get-togethers :D

What a great idea. We could all chip in and prep it at my place.

Ohh sounds like a plan

Do you really believe that to be the case?
It's a possibility to consider - stranger things have happened (angry wives selling husbands cars for £10 etc).

How can we organise this?

Anyone have any ideas?
