Anyone seen any good number plates on cars lately?

I have to say the cleverest plate (only cause it took me about a week to work it out!) was V5 ALC on a Ford Focus back in '99.

See if anyone else gets where the geezer was coming from! :)

Ok obviously no one else cares so I'm gonna tell you to make myself feel better! ALC is the short version of alcohol, V5 was bottles of tart fuel made by Martini and at the time Martini sponsored the Ford rally team who where using Focus's...... well I thought it was clever! lol:wallbash:

Comic

In Torbay I have seen COM 1C on some TV comedians car, and we have a retired professional snooker player with CUE 1.

On the site that is selling the C43AMG Estate there is a Rolls Royce being sold with PEC 1L (can't see any significance) its price with plate when I looked was £3100

Saw PR 1 on Black Range Rover on the A355 between Farnham Common & Slough...

PR 1 used to belong to a Peter Rowntree, based in York. Not sure whether it was the Peter Rowntree (son of the social reformer Benjamin Seebohm Rowntree, who was chairman of the family's confectionary company from 1923-1941).

^^ The previous owner mentioned above was indeed the late Peter Rowntree, who was himself a director of the family firm. Wonder who has it now... (Slough is Mars territory, isn't it?)

All the "UFO" plates offered at DVLA sales have gone for £7000 or less, apart from UFO 1 (£12k), 1 UFO (£12.2k) and 4 UFO (£7.3k). Hammer price on UFO 7 was £4800, in July 2004.

Went for £7900 in 1994. Would have seemed strong then, but looks like a bargain now all the two-character plates have gone.
