My 58 plate S211 has the later type Command with integrated changer and SD card slot, etc.
The 3.5mm stereo jack socket in the glovebox is wired differently to what is considered the normal standard and as on a previous S211 with earlier Command. Plugging in an Ipod or Pure DAB unit, the right channel was OK, left was quieter and distorted and a mono recording (BBC 4xtra old comedy for example) only came from the right.
Normally, on a 3.5mm plug, the end tip is RH, centre band LH and shoulder section ground.
I've had to cut off the plug on one end of the lead and solder a new one on thus:
End tip RH, centre band common, shoulder LH.
Everything now works perfectly, in balance and phase.
I just sorted this by trial and error!
Is it a Merc thing just to make you buy their leads, or is mine just odd?
Thanks, Windy
