Badged. Whenever I see a debadged car, it says to me that its the bottom of the range car and the owner is trying to fool people into thinking its top of the range (especially if it is blinged up with flash alloys etc). It's like they are a bit self conscious.

I'd leave it alone, the car looks great as it is.

I agree, with the possible exception when you are have a beast of an engine and are going for the real Q car effect.

i suppose the other advantages are the car must be easier to clean and wax etc ..

My E320CDI was de-badged when I bought it and I think I prefer the look. It surprises a few boy racers in the traffic-light grand-prix from time to time!

No doubt they thought it was a lesser powered vehicle simply because of it being de-badged?

Thanks for all the votes and comments. As it is a E220CDI with some flash alloys (mercedes factory fit however) I better be careful if Robbo is around ;)

Other benefit of bebadging is cleaning the car. It will make polishing the back end much easier.

Final question, if I take the badges off, anyone got any idea about the cost of buying new ones and getting them fitted ?????

Also on "HOW to remove badges" the tips from doing a search on this seems to be dental floss and a hair drier to warm things up, 1)warm up with hair dryer (or leave in sun) 2) Get dental floss behind to remove 3) Use Autoglym Tar remover to clean up mess. 4) Re polish.

Glad I brought a smile to your face! Still feeling rather guilty for calling you a troll ... :o Did you see the recent movie called Sideways? If not, your sense of humour would definitely appreciate it. Anyway, in the movie, the otherwise highly sympathetic lead character called Miles gets drunk and phones his ex-wife from a restaurant - with predictably miserable consequences. His mate Jack repeatedly tells him: 'Don't drink and dial', but in vain ... I would modify that to 'Don't get pissed and post' ... :o

:D Good morning,
Certainly no offence taken at a very humorous post, trouble is, I'm usually as high as a kite and simply don't know when to shut-up and listen.

Have a really nice Bank Holiday

Anyone ever considered down-badging? :D Like putting a C180 badge on a C43...

Now, I can see that being fun.... :D

Cheers John - slogging it out on motorways to and from airports as usual, we're busy during other people's holidays. Christ there are some idiots out this weekend as well - yesterday the M11 was closed in both directions near J8 for the air ambulance. I'll raise my glass to you this evening!

It must also be an excellent and very cheap anti-theft device.

1.6D Who would steal that!!!

suppose i could badge my car as a C200 CDI :D

I have done it.

Despite my daughter being part of the keep the badge camp and wife thinking I am mad. I have removed the badges.

1) Heat with hair dryer.

2) Dental Floss to remove.

3) Autoglym Tar remover (left to soak into foam messy stuff left)

4) Heat with hair dryer and rub with soft cloth. So foam and adhesive turns into little balls and falls off.

It all came off very clean.

To finish some Enzitt Paint Polish, followed by P21S Paint Cleaner and a little P21S wax. Very shinny rear :D

Thank you for the votes.
