I noticed the other day the bottom of my battery on my CLK W209 was under water, so today was my first opportunity to investigate.
After taking the battery out, the battery tray underneath was swimming in water so I removed the 3 bolts holding it and removed it, what a disgusting mess underneath.
I found the large rubber drainage type grommet completely blocked which I removed and cleaned together all the other crud which had accumulated over some time.
There is also a drainage tube that takes water from the scuttle between the battery and the wing which was blocked up which I removed cleaned and refitted.
All back together now and feel very satisfied, as it cant be good all that water sloshing around.
