Blue Efficiency injector recall?

Rothbury, do you know more on e350 CDI injector problem ? Mine seem to be running quite smooth, 7500 miles now

I made a dyno test to my C250 cdi Prime Edition. See the other topic!
210bhp but with some break in the line of power around 2900rpm. I think this is a turbo lag of the larger turbo. Now with 51000km. Never had injectors failure.

All injector problems seem to have resolved now

Maybe the injector problems have been resolved however my E250CDI Sport Auto Cab was delayed due to injector related production issues - backlog of engines but has had production cancelled due to "gearbox" issues.... I've noticed that the CLS250/S250CDI's have been announced with the 7G 'box not the 5-Speed... anyone know anything about this?

All the 5 speed gearboxes are probably being diverted into cars going to CHINA which is taking precedence over European markets as all the German manufacturers try to win market share in a country undergoing huge expansion.
And you though buying that cheap toaster in Tescos wasn't going to come back and bite you one day.;)

Quite a long thread to track through - my general conclusion is that all pre-March 2010 220/250 cdi BE have had injectors replaced either through unfortunate incidents or selective (?) recalls.

I've been looking at BMW 320d SE/Sport Autos but after actually sitting in the Mercs at the weekend, they seem much more roomy and have a great feeling to them for practically the same economy and performance if you're prepared to accept a 3/4 second slower acceleration.

I'm considering a low mileage (< 10k) 220 cdi BE auto from 2009, what are the steps that i would to go through to verify with the dealer that I can be satisfied not to run into an incident and annoying exchanges over this ? (Indeed can I use this unsavoury story to get a few hundred quid cash discount - or wait till slow time in new year)

Many thanks for any help to first time poster.

Just to keep the thread alive... My car (built December 09) had it's first service today. I hadn't had a recall letter nor any problems but all 4 in injectors were replaced under warranty.

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a 2009 E350 CDI saloon but the injector/ECU problems and low MPG are bothering me to the extent of looking at other manufactures.
Have the injector problems now been resolved or do I have to really check the car out with the retailer which will be a stealership?

sorted.... fingers crossed

Well I purchased my new W204 sport C220 CDI Auto in Nov 09, Had two breakdowns which I revealed earlier in this thread, However since my injectors were replaced I've had many months of stress free motoring and appreciate the growing strengths and beauty of the MB. Not looking forward to my second service bill (over £400, I'm lead to believe) when it becomes due in late 2011 but I do love the car, I'd say buy one with confidence now (do hope I haven't jinxed myself :-) ) I never get into it after a hard days work without smiling by the end of my journey. If I had one wish it would be for better mpg as I do about 60 miles a day majority over motorway but seem to average around the 37- 40 mpg mark ( shows about 45-50 on motorway, at about 80mph before I hit the urban sprawl). Tried keeping it around the 70-75mph mark but the torque available can be addictive! Hope anyone considering isn't put off. Like I said I've had a few bad experiences with this MB ownership thing but guess when things are going good, they feel that good you forget much quicker than with other makes!!! Peace.

Glad you're happy. I am really enjoying mine and share your view about the look of the car ( obsidian black estate ) and the comfort on a journey.
MPG on mine is 37.5 ave on the computer which given that more than half is short journeys is acceptable. It would be interesting to get the views of all other diesel B/E owners who contributed to this long running thread . Do people generally like their cars or not???

Yep - I'm still hooked. Haven't done as many miles as expected due to a major back operation but the car is stylish without looking hearse - like (black estate.....), comfy on a long trip, quiet, strong, fine handling and economical - averaging about 46.5 over 27000 miles according to Mr Excel spreadsheet, which is pretty good for an auto in 2/3 motorway, 1/3 normal driving. The car just gets better and better

My only criticism (dull looking interior) has been corrected in the forthcoming facelift, so that is me down for another one in a year's time when this one goes. Injectors apart (oh, and the driver wing mirror cracked by itself - warranty repair took 5 minutes) the car has been reliable.

I am very happy with my car. Managed to get the injectors changed before it broke down. Mileage is now 27000 in 15 months. On a typical run mixing brisk motorway and A roads the trip usually reads low 40s mpg and it is not hard to push that into mid/upper 40s. I have left one of the trips alone since getting the car and that shows a lifetime average of just under 40mpg.

Mercedes rang me out of the blue offering to change my injectors.!!

My W212 E250 CDI is now 1 year old, having old done 9000 miles.
Long journeys (@~70mph) 53mpg and around town 42mpg (Auto box)
No problems with the current injectors but maybe new ones will give better mpg.

That's incredible for an E class auto- no way I'd get that in my C class.
If I were you I'd leave the current injectors in place.

So would I. Just shows what a crap deal us W204 owners have!:wallbash:

Love the car but the mpg is unacceptable and nowhere near that advertised.

10 000 miles post-injector problem with no issues. A lovely car which is a pleasure to drive.

Getting 34 mpg on my daily commute of 7 miles into South Birmingham which doesn't compare well with my previous 10 yr old 2.4 V70 which would do 28 mpg. I expected better. However, I do find I'm a lot heavier footed in this car as I love the torque. On a recent 400 mile round trip to Great Yarmouth at motorway speeds it returned 56 mpg.

Have had 2 sets of replacement injectors in mine in 12 months. 1st set was replaced under recall in nov 2010. They lasted 4 months, car had to be recovered when this set failed. Updated injectors now fitted. Fingers crossed.

Likewise. My second set of injectors have just failed with 22000 miles on the clock, vehicle went into limp mode and has now been recovered by Merc assist. Previous failure was last year at 6000
