Bought a C250CDi and it feels slow

Steve you already have 200bhp,you don't need more. What you need to endulge your MB is holiday to Austria. On the motorway above 80mph your Merc will come to live.100mph is cruising speed 110,120,130,140,150 mph not a problem.Car becoming quiter and the air is pushing it down becoming more stable. And you can maintain that speed for a whole day without stopping.Ford or Vauxhall engine probably will melt after 8 hours high speed driving.Last year I was driving on m6 Nurnberg to Regensburg with cruising 110 mph and w202 250 turbodisel Merc on German plates overtook me like a was stationary,he must have been doing over 140mph.I was stunned. They are great cars

I have no doubt that these are great cars, i just want to improve on it somewhat so to get a car that suits all my needs and not just the daily monotonous trunking along the motorways i do five days a week.

Remaps improve both fuel ecconomy and also performance, so its a win win really :D

Also, it may have 204hp but it honestly feels like it has 150hp in comprrison to other cars i've owned. So a little nudge along will do nothing other than help me smile that little bit wider when driving my Red Mercedes ;-)

Yep but racing on the traffic lights wears your gem,and MB parts not cheap either.I was crossed that all others accelerated quicker on the roundabouts but no point of racing in the city there is no winner only you could be involved in accident, ignore them and drive smoothly in the city. They can replace their Fords or Vaxhalls every year but your MB has to last long it isn't cheap

think you've really missed the point here! I am no boy racer!! Yes i enjoy a quick car, and have been driving for over 25 years, and know when and where not its appropriate to have a blast.

The point is not how many pointless red light drag i have haha gawd, can't be bothered with that, i simply was testing the car as it was new to me and i simply wanted to see what it was about, which to be honest, wasn't much, so i was and am kinda dissapointed in that area, so the boost will be to enable me to enjoy the car more as and when i feel the need :D

But i thank you for your conscientious and father like wise words, i have taken them on board and will bare in mind what you've said ;)

Couple of other points suggest you consider about remapping:

Might compromise your 12 month MB Approved Used warranty;

Any change in torque profile (as apposed to proportionally more torque across the rev ragne) might only be fully exploited by auto box if shift points are reconfigured via Star.<post #79>

...BUT an MB-approved option and fitment could address both of those points <post #77>

Also, be careful of mods that aren't declared to Insurer, could compromise a claim.

I'd love to have a main dealer remap service done, but where i bought my car from which was a Mercedes owned dealer, said they don't do or have the facilities to do remaps!

Was considering the BrabusD4 option for that very reason, i.e warrenty!

the point is that a custom ECU remap using the existing software is undetecable, therefore wouldn't effect warrenty or insurrance.

Its finding a repitable tuner who can carry out such work is the problem im having right now!

Are you sure?

I understand that loss adjusters plug into the ecu and can tell if a remap has taken place.

No notify, no insurance - it's a big gamble to take.

I'm no expert, but I'd have thought that all programmed or reprogrammed data could be read, including a time/datestamp of last edit.

When i was still unsure about the car, the dealer asked their digagostics guy if they could see what map the ECU was running to identify the kw the car was running at, and the answer was no, as their system doesnt have the ability to search such info even using the Star system they use to look at the data for the car.

Well thats what they told me! And i have the origanal data Star sheet and it doesnt have anything about kw (as they dont use hp/bhp) or any info relating to the ECU.

The fact you've just bought the car and you are already looking for ways to alter its performance means that you've probably made an error in judgement and you need to consider taking it back and getting something more suited for your needs.

The C350cdi has immense amounts of torque and V8-like pace. You will also return 35-40mpg on average, so its worth considering... and quick. If you are still within your 30day return policy (I had a friend who rejected a car within this period from Mercedes Brentford), I'd definitely get rid.

I am surprised you find the car slow, I have a 09 C220 Sport Wagon and once you get used to the power delivery you can hustle it along, however it's naturally environment where it excels is not off the line sprints, but once you are moving and the torque comes into play. Mine has just over 100k on the clock and the engine gets a good work out from my right foot, and I much prefer it to the 320d I had before. If anything the extra miles have had a good effect on the engine.

On my favourite roads around Goodwood, it's as much fun as my C43.

In terms of spec would be tempted to swap it for the one with full leather, heated seats and the 17's. I went for one with the smaller wheels because I found the car flows on broads much better and doesn't get deflected by poor roads. Will also be a much nicer place to spend time in.

The C350CDi is just out of my cash budget, and i really don't like financeing a car, as you just lose lose on the depreciation and interest paid.

Plus i only keep my cars for 12 to 18months, so will upgrade to a C350CDi on my next upgrade, as my max budget was £18k and this car came in at £16.5k including a full service, refurb of the wheels, super gaurd inside an out treatment. So it was a good buy and the cheapest C350 Sport i could souce was £22k

I was tempted by the black one, but its just another common by the dozen looking car, and the red is few an far between which i like.

But i get what you're saying, as my common sence head i get good value for the extra £1k but my heart loves the Red and 18" look.

I would get a remap (or Brabus chip, does alter boost as well as fuelling and better than any map I have had over the years) you will see 260bhp from the C250 and it will transform it.
The throttle repsonse on these is pretty relaxed (mercedes speak) compared with other marques, but a sprint booster would help this. An M3 has a very agressive throttle pedal map, and the sprint booster will get it closer to this feel.

if you want a c250cdi to go quick just put a tuning box and a magic throttle mod on it... worked a treat on mine 50mpg all day long and massively fast. wish i still had the car... shame i still have the boxes.....
