Has anybody had issues with Pre Climate. I tried last night to set it from the car and it would not accept it, and I tried again this morning and it would not set.
I am not sure if it is because it is too warm, or am I going to have to pay a visit to the dealer???

Talking of issues and sorry if this has been done to death before now, even though the rather is warm in SE UK right now my battery is only showing 13/14 miles on full charge. Even today after a very warm night. Does this look like a problem that needs to be fixed or is it par for the course? Far off 19 miles and short of what others seem to be getting....

Disclaimer: This is my second week of having the car.

After having read this forum extensively over the last 6 months I would say that 13/14 miles on a full charge is considered normal. It appears to depend very much on driving style (as in it adjusts the range depending on your past driving performance) and if it is using battery on things like air conditioning, headlights, windscreen wipers, etc. Also remember that the car defaults to "Comfort" driving mode and you may gain a little from switching to "Eco" using the dynamic select switch. I can also eak out another mile or so if I switch from Hybrid to E-Mode when there is no more electric range.

I don't think anyone has reported getting a real-world "19" on the range?

Its been discussed a fair bit before but I would agree. I've had mine for 6mths. I've never seen more than 15miles predicted from a full charge and always got less than that.

However I am in a rural area, so immediate driving from my house is accelerations up to 60mph, which will knock lumps off the range.

I think if you lived in an urban area, you would see a very good distance from the battery.

I was also only getting around 36 mpg first 2000 miles. Now its risen to 47mpg over 6000 miles.

Its been reliable with no rattles or issues. I agree the boot is a pain (have a saloon) but as a company car the BIK savings outweighed that. Although the new Jag XF 163 Manual was on my list. Never got a chance to drive that as ordered this as soon as it was back on the list just due to the cost savings.

I am very happy with my car. Now averaging nearly 50mpg and I am often not having to use the petrol engine.
Have used Ecotricity on M6, stopped for lunch so got a useful 9 miles for free. I have my home supplied by Ecotricity and find they are cheaper than previous supplier EON. Interesting comment earlier about Ecotricity being expensive. I was given a £50 Marks and Spencer voucher on joining and I get a £40 credit for having an electric car. That £40 pays for a lot of miles. I live 21 miles from Central Milton Keynes and whenever I visit there I park on a Chargemaster pod and stay for just over two hours. In that time the car is fully charged for the return journey. I eventually get an invoice from Chargemaster for 0.36p. So parking in a Premium area £2.00 per hour for free and a 36p electric charge cost seem like a good deal to me. Of course there is a monthly Chargemaster account fee of £8.00, or thereabouts, but if devided by the number of visits it is still a good deal.

On the journey to Milton Keynes 42 miles the car displays the message that throughout the journey the engine was off for about 36 miles :)
That may be the fabled 18 miles electric that we were told the car could achieve

I had an issue trying to program the Pre Climate and my issue was that the HV battery wasn't charged enough. I charged the battery whilst driving and afterwards I was able to program it.

The issue I have now is trying to prevent it coming on every time I unlock the doors, as I can't find a way to switch Pre Climate off.

If you press the "car" symbol button on the dash you can change the setting to off for pre-entry climate by key.

I've had mine turned on but it is a bit annoying having it all of the time. Better just using the app for when you'd like it IMO.

Same here! "Today's the Day", I said to myself. With over 4000 miles on the clock, the HVB will be fully conditioned and I've seen 16 and 17 miles available from it during the France/Italy trip last month using COMAND guidance, E-mode and Hybrid. So with the air temperature at 28-30° off I went up the M5 at 60mph, no aircon or COMAND; nothing in fact to use any extra amps at all.

Result? 13 miles mostly with a late "surge" to 14. Baaah!

Here's the 17 miles day after a long trip ending up in the low Massif Central.

I had the same expectations of seeing more than 14 miles from a full charge. Got to work like normal ( 21 miles, 99.9 MPG) , charged again for the return journey, got stuck in traffic, couldn't bear no aircon, result ? lowest electric drive of 9 miles with lots and lots of aircon - worth it tho.

Funny fact, it took me 3 weeks to discover the windscreen wipers wash wipe button depresses furthest to wash/clean the windscreen - not needed it before and had to check the wash bottle had water in it ( wasn't pushing the button the full way ) doh!

Which driving mode have you been using ?

Look what I found this morning, 19 mile electric range showing. Took kids to school 6 miles and still had 12 miles remaining when got back home.

Apologies if this question has been asked previously however can anybody advise what oil the c350e takes? In the manual it is blank and depending where I look it seems to be 5w-30 or 5w-40. Any advice would be great.

Ordered mid Jan, leasing company finally put the order through end of Jan (delay over grant) and after being given a delivery date of 8th August, found out I will be getting it next week. Just read through all 133 pages of this thread for tips I think will be useful for me, just the other 350e thread to go through now!

Asked about the Connect Me being switched on back in Jan and was told no. Leasing company has merged with another now so I've asked the question again - no response as yet. Assume it will be a no again but worth asking!

I took some time to get this right; warranty and all that.... The car is expected to use oil as stated in the manual.

Oil must meet MB specification MB 229.5. The MB part number is A 000 989 83 01 AAA4.

Cheapest supplier locally was my MB Dealer. Prices in Halfords and on the Web were much higher.

The least critical property is the viscosity; either 5W-30 or 5W-40 would do. I believe that this oil is 5W-40.

It's here: http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevol...ion_path=bevolisten&language_id=1&blatt=229.5

Look what I found this morning, 19 mile electric range showing.

Well Done! That's amazing. Any idea what had gone on before to result in this unusual HVB charge?

I popped into my local main dealer last week and they said that if I bring my driver's licence in they'll activate it for me. I might get a chance to pop back tomorrow, so I'll let you know if it works.

Nothing out of the ordinary, car was plugged in overnight via mains socket. Not had the car a week yet so will be interesting to see if I get it again.

I went into the MB dealer yesterday and they gave me 5w-40.

What they couldn't tell me though is where I can see the oil level other than the dipstick.

Anyone know if it's in one of the menus ?

I don't think it was an unusual charge. Maybe it was an unusual predicted range based on some economical driving last time out?

I guess MB are saying that when the car's fuel economy and emissions were tested, it looked like the range could be 19 miles. The NEDC test that's used is roughly 7 miles in lab conditions and the car must have used just over 1/3 of the battery to do the test. Trouble is, the test is rubbish: the highest acceleration tested is 0-70kph in 41 seconds. If you have the patience to drive like that (and MB didn't cheat in the test), you'll get 19 miles range.

I've never managed more than 13, but most of the journeys I do involve hills which must kill the range.

Doubt it as had been in Sport+ on way home.
