Does anyone know exactly how the pre-entry climate control works? I was under the.impression that you could set the temperature but can't see an option in either the iphone or Web app versions of.mefcedes me.

Excuse me for stating the obvious, but you should have received a printed Manual with the car and there is a digital manual on-line and in the car. You'll find answers to questions like this in there.

The temp had to be preset, although I think I did read somewhere that if it will heat if temp below 20 and cool if above 20

Web version of app just allows you to enable it

Thanks. I take it the preset temp is selected via comand as opposed to the app then?

I've had my car a good long time now, since November in fact and been a "lurker" in here but want to contribute more ;)

In terms of the pre-entry - from what I've seen it simply choose whatever your last AC settings are when it enables itself, so if you have your car set to 21 it will come on and go to 21 for you. So in theory if you wanted to you could have your car cool in the winter and hotter in the summer if you really (really) wanted to - yet just pre-acclimatises your car based on current settings, pre-heat is a misnomer because you can use it in the summer to chill your car also if you have temps set low from the previous trip say... it works really well.

The only thing I bloody wish it would do is have a schedule, as in Monday-Friday, have it on, Sat-Sun, off. Also wish it could remember it's settings, it forgets them the second you have set, so you need to remember to "reset" it each nite from the app. That wouldn't normally be a problem, but if I park in a particular way on my drive the signal is terrible and I can't sometimes contact it from Internet - so being able to pre-programme it, and have named schedules would be amazing - possibly future software update...!

I use the pre entry on key option. Just unlock about 10mins before you want to set off and then lock it again.

Is there a way of not having the passsenger seat heating come on? If I get into the car on a cold morning both heated seats are on, and I would like to set it to just mine. I could RTFM, but it's easier to ask on here. ;)

In the air con settings - navigate on the top ribbon to pre entry climate - there is an option in there for driver side only or both front seats.

Did read a section of the manual today that said it will heat the car if the outside temperature is less than 20 degrees and cool if it is more.

C350e - possibly the most pointless car available today

I had an Audi A4 TDI estate and have replaced it with a C350e estate. By comparison to the diesel and petrol C-Class estates the C350e looses 140ltrs of boot space and 16ltrs of fuel tank capacity.

It averages 36mpg and irrespective of whether I charge it via the mains or putting it in to charge mode on the motorway I can not get any more than 14miles range from it. There is next-to no storage in it, it arrived with 10miles on the clock and was carted away with 14miles when the battery coolant leaked on the drive, all four tyres had different pressures, the cover for the charge socket was not correctly fitted, a clip holding two hoses in place under the bonnet was not fitted correctly so the hoses rattle when I drive along and there is a rattle in the passengers front door, the car alarm has gone off three times for no reason - this is my first and last Mercedes

It's not a diesel. That's good.

The boot space is in the spec.

I managed 53mpg on a 250 mile motorway trip at the weekend. What are you doing to it?

14 miles is pretty much what we all get. You surely didn't expect test conditions range in the real world?

The rest sounds like a nightmare of misfortune. I'm delighted with mine. It's smooth, fast, comfortable and half my miles are on electric power which is cheap and clean.

I would add - what was the 0 to 60 time for the Audi. I generally find the faster the acceleration the more they drink !

Anyone noticed Ecotricity now wants to charge to a "charging" model ( excuse the pun ) ..... £6 for 30mins ......... err , cheaper to use Petrol for us 350e users. Its free if you use them for your home energy but last time i checked they were WAY more expensive ( and I mean by a long way ) than what i'm paying now - only just got the flipping card ....... oh well, i'll just have to park with the other normal drivers at Ikea ...........

Bit of a shame.

I only charged on the motorway for the first time at the weekend and I might not get another chance. To be honest, I'm not sure the car drinks electrons to make it worthwhile. I'd do it if I could, but I'd prefer not to be at a motorway services for more than 10 minutes, so it's not the end of the world...

That's unfortunate Simon. Like you it's my first Merc after 3 Beema's on the spin. This one has been by far the best screwed together for working straight out the box with no rattles or squeaks to resolve. At least 2 of the beema's have driven me mad till I've sorted all the niggles out, usually 18 months, in the end once sorted they've been good too it's only fair to say. I'd put pressure on your dealership to resolve all the issues. Not sure where you stand re: rejecting the car if unhappy, much harder if it's a lease car. Honest John website has good advice on these matters. Best of luck in sorting.

Yep, I just got an Ecotricity card too. Used it on the Motorway 3 days before their announcement to 'charge for charging'. Doh! One glimmer of hope, you mention IKEA, you will still be able to charge for free there as they are only medium/ slow speed chargers. It's their fast charge network that they have introduced charging on, which is all their motorway network plus some more. Enjoy the free juice still at IKEA for now. :)

I was also only getting around 36 mpg first 2000 miles. Now its risen to 47mpg over 6000 miles.

Its been reliable with no rattles or issues. I agree the boot is a pain (have a saloon) but as a company car the BIK savings outweighed that. Although the new Jag XF 163 Manual was on my list. Never got a chance to drive that as ordered this as soon as it was back on the list just due to the cost savings.

Thanks. Found this. Switched it on, made no difference this morning. Both seat heaters still come on. It's very strange, because what else would "driver's side" refer to?

Yes, this is what mine does. It's only been about 10 degrees these last few mornings. As soon as I unlock my car, the preheat starts and both seats switch on.
