C350e owners club

Bad Luck! Glad you like the car. Some things take while to get used to. Yes the COMAND map database is pretty good, but the guidance algorithm has its moments - particularly with pronunciation of foreign places. It seems to me that you could have a case to threaten the dealer with a report to the Trading Standards Office or even the Small Claims Court. It depends on how strong you feel; it's a tough road to embark on.

Yes the "bear left" for turning right at large roundabouts is a bit hopeless! Maps themselves seem OK. Dynamic routing a bit questionable.

Pronunciation is a scream! I am thinking of putting it into French and German (which I have a reasonable grasp) to travel to Switzerland and see if "she" copes better.

We did that last month on our way to and from Italy through France with those two languages. There was a definite improvement in pronunciation - particularly in Italian - but there was room for a lot more.

Sometimes it was so bad that to understand what Miss Daisy had said we had to look at the top of the screen to see the printed word. As you say, there was often so little correspondence between the spoken and the printed words that we just collapsed into giggles. :)

Couple of things I have found which I don't think have been mentioned:

1. You can sync the left and right temperatures by pressing and holding the "Menu" rocker (it takes quite a while... more than a few seconds).

2. When setting up the "Pre entry climate control at time of departure" I tried to set it to do the "entire vehicle interior" but it kept flipping back to "driver's seat". Not sure why??

3. The manual refers to "Pre entry climate control via key" but I couldn't find this setting? Either I don't have it (Do I need keyless go or command?) or the manual isn't correct.

I actually used parking bay assist for the first time today as wanted to try it ahead of showing her indoors how easy it is! I deliberately searched out an individual space between two parked cars. I'd say it worked a treat other than The car needed to go forward and back once to get in the space whereas I would have lined up and done it in one. Quite impressive though.

Have done the same and does work fine now. It does seem to work better when there is a "tighter" space. It does always seem to have to move forward to correct though. Can't do it in one (like me ;-) ).

Clearly Halesowen is the in place to be!

Have taken some photos of my chip installation and will post when I can work out how to do it :)

Performance is much stronger.

Will take the chip off over the weekend to see how much difference there is, it's pretty quick normally anyway as we know.

Quonker I've been looking forward to your update all weekend as sad as my life maybe ;-) did you get a chance to try out the chip properly this weekend?

I can't recall anyone posting pic's of the blue calipers - here's a few of my 1 week old, now quite dirty car, but doing 99.9 MPG on my daily commute (each way ) of 21 miles ( charging home and work ) - loving the car !

We live in Sutton Coldfield and her posh pronunciation of the town reflects the wider socio-economic context here!

Any shots of the blue DRLs?
Does it also some EV badging now?

The side wing sEV badging is in the pic's albeit one is bright due to flash, it isn't very noticeable against (dirty) brilliant blue.

Blue DRL's - i dont think they're blue but white, however i did notice the other night the front lights lit up blue on start up but then went to white within a few seconds - i might have a quick play later, i've only actually looked at the car in the dark with the lights on once, usually they're off.

Blue to white lights are on mine - no change there.

Hi Jaid2016

Problem with our car is its multifaceted nature, usually I drive in Eco or Comfort with the occasional Sport or Sport+ when I am in the mood and SWMBO isn't in the car.

With the chip it's bloody quick, but it's bloody quick anyway.

to be honest I'm not sure how much difference the chip makes, need really to drive it spiritedly in one of the sports modes this week and take the chip off to see if the difference is noticeable.

When I plant my right foot in Sports+ the car surges forward with wheel spin and imparts a big smile, how much is placebic, (not sure if that is really a word), and how much is extra from the chip I don't know.

Promise by the end of this week will have taken the chip off, will post photos and will post before and after results.

Aah yes I can see the badge now. I guess blue DRLs probably aren't legal so makes sense that they switch back.

Have fun, love my brilliant blue car :)

I thought the same thing - if you turn on the ability to do timed departure in the car menus then this made it work via the key. :thumb:

charging was available on the ferry to Harwich but not on the one from Hull.

and you do wonder how you ever lived without Distronic.

Things I learned to love:
- Distronic
- Effortless acceleration and high-speed cruising
- ILS
- Seats and suspension
- Mercedes Me

Like your list, but not sure about ILS yet.

Yes - Yes for Distronic and I would add HUD for Nav info and to remind you of the speed limit you're in and the speed you're actually doing when you have Distronic in action in traffic. You can read off the speed that the vehicle in front is doing and so judge a possible overtake situation.

No charging on Brittany ferries yet; but I think they are aware of the possible popularity of it and may come eventually.

Blue Calipers

Love the blue calipers, thought the original silver ones were fab but with brilliant blue paint those blue calipers are out of this world. Too much to think there might be a retro upgrade coming along?

The badge is smaller than I was expecting and like you say, blends in with blue, I think it would be a lot more noticeable on something like white though.

It's taken a few runs to get to trust it but the ILS is just a delight. Mrs H and I spent a large part of the last night-time journey just watching it do its thing. There's often so many separate things happening at the same time with the car that I'm starting to understand how F1 drivers get confused with their engine modes.

And to those earlier comments on satnav pronunciation, it's not just the MB. I've just spent a week in a Golf cab in the West of France being directed to Lar Row Shell. Never thought to put it in French, perfectly happy with "Helga" sounding like a lost Sloan on her first trip to Abroadland.

Finally, my C350e in brilliant blue, premium plus and night package is being delivered on Friday. Been using a Volvo S60 1.6 petrol 150bhp and averaging 36mpg so looking forward to the not so dismal mpg from the Merc and the power.

521 miles on the clock and I have only had the car since Friday. I have now done two fill-ups (one just after delivery and one today) and have achieved 54.76mpg over the last 503 miles (based on actual fuel into tank rather than the trip computer). This has cost me 9.2p per mile. Two thirds of that was motorway and all of that was in Eco mode.

I am pretty happy with that.

Edit: I have done 6 full charges... probably worth pointing that out.
