C350e owners club

Has anyone had an issue with Park Assist. Since the last SW upgrade it always seems to kerb the rear left wheel when Parallel Parking. I had it serviced last month and they could find no issue.

The kerb is of a normal height too.

I can't believe I've not played much with park assist. Just one perpendicular test that needed two attempts because the space was too tight. Must give it a go

I've done it perhaps three times. Twice its been perfect (even on a low kerb), the other it gave up. Not much of a draw for me really

I (when BAY parking) always find mine goes WAY too far to the passenger side. Then stops JUST before I hit the other car.. then over corrects.

I use mine a lot in my c220d. Always works. I don't think it has anything to do with the kerb. It aligns you with the parked cars. If they are parked poorly so will you.

We opted not to have the blue callipers and lights on the three we have just ordered as company cars. Wasn't sure how it would look in the colours we chose.

Hi Everyone, this is my first post here.

I'm just about to order a C350e saloon as my new company car, following a successful loan for 3 days of a C350e estate from my friendly neighbourhood MB dealer. This will be a replacement for a much loved BMW 320d Touring ED+ which over the almost 4 years of its life has averaged 54mpg. I appreciate the MB wont get anywhere near that, but that saving on the BIK will sure buy a lot of petrol! I have a 30 mile each way commute, all motorway apart from a mile at either end, and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on what I should be achieving in terms of mpg. My workplace doesnt yet have charge points, but is installing some soon. Also, is it OK to charge from a 3 pin socket at home or should I really get a charge box installed?

Cheers

Rob

The average on the forum seems to be around 45mpg. I have had a Rolec for almost 2 years and it has been faultless. Takes seconds to plug in and is so convenient.

Welcome! Might I ask where this dealer is? Would love to see an estate in the flesh!

I charge from a 3-pin nearly every night. I'm sure it's not as convenient as a charge point, but it doesn't take long and it has been 100% reliable (so far).

Economy is so hard to predict because it's more variable to driving style and conditions than in a diesel. I don't drive your commute very often, but I think you'd get 50-70mpg on the outward journey and 40-50mpg overall.

I'm sure you could manage less at 90mph in sport+, or more if your driving like a saint in dry, warm daylight.

Welcome to the forum. My driving is nearly all local suburban stuff, so my mpg has improved over my 320 ED! That used to average 45'ish. I'm currently on 52. And the C350e is about 100 times faster too. :D

I use the three pin charger on the low (8amp) setting as I charge overnight. I have installed it as a permanent fixture so it works the same as a charge box. If you can't do that, a Rolec would be better.

It's increadibly sensitive to your type of driving. Our current tank is showing 88mpg at the moment. That's on 196 miles so far, 82% of the tank remaining. A weekend away, just charging before we set off, about 300 miles of all kinds of driving from motorway to B roads to urban gave just over 50mpg. If you can charge at each end of your 30 mile commute I reckon you'll see 60+ unless you make regular use of the performance.

When running ours in, I kept it in Sport mode most of the time to make sure the ICE was running. Gave high 30s when doing that, which I thought was pretty good considering what I was doing.

I've had mine just under two months now and seem to have settled at an average of just over 50mpg.

The oddest idiosyncrasy so far has been how Command handles roundabouts. It seems that if they are over an arbitrary size they are treated as just a series of junctions.

It does mean you keep being told to go left when you need to be in the right hand lane, which can be 'fun' in heavy traffic when you don't know the area.

Those arbitrary Souzas are a real menace that's for sure. :D:D:D:D

But yes, it is a very perverse kind of logic which views the joining of a roundabout as a left turn!

Just a thought - when the suspension is in Sport mode, it should lower about an inch. When you raise the suspension using the button near the touchpad, it should raise an inch from the Comfort level. It might be worth checking that yours does go up and down correctly and it's not stuck in low.

Yes, tried this. Suspension works as it should. It's booked back in.

Inadvertently tested one of the more esoteric features on Saturday night. I can confirm that the sunroof will indeed close itself if left open and it rains.....although it did leave it slightly open in what I presume is the 'vent' position. Funny thing was, I'd forgotten I left it open and on the way home, couldn't trace where the wind noise was coming from. Didn't spot it until the following day.

Mine didn't work. I presumed it worked off the windscreen wiper sensor, but the wipers came on and the roof didn't close. I then stopped in traffic and resisted closing the roof as long as I could, but gave up in the end. Anyone know where the sensor might be? Mine obviously needs a clean/blow with a hammer.

Maybe it only closes automatically if the car is locked and empty? I'd parked up and left the car, hadn't closed the roof. It started to rain an hour or so later. About 3 hours later went back to the car, roof was (almost) closed, seats not wet!

Seems perfectly reasonable to me if you're in the car.

A test with a locked car and a garden hose seems to be in order.

Good thinking. I'd assumed it worked all the time, but it makes more sense that it's for when the car is unattended.
