C350e owners club

Mine didn't work. I presumed it worked off the windscreen wiper sensor, but the wipers came on and the roof didn't close. I then stopped in traffic and resisted closing the roof as long as I could, but gave up in the end. Anyone know where the sensor might be? Mine obviously needs a clean/blow with a hammer.

I was thinking about this, if you have the sunroof open and then spray the windscreen for a clean, you'd be closing the sunroof p.s. don't spray too hard as it will come in the car! The sensor must be somewhere else.

Forgive me chaps....I've done a bad thing...

.....I (gulp) read the owners book just now.

Rain closure feature works with key in position 0 or removed. (it doesn't mention how it interprets Keyless Go):

if it starts to rain
at extreme outside temperatures
after 6 hours
if there is a malfunction of the power supply

sensor is the same one used by the wipers

Well done Chris!!! If in doubt...

My w205 not an etchings though the roof closes overnight if left wide open in garage, assume it's light as well as rain sensitive.

Welcome! Might I ask where this dealer is? Would love to see an estate in the flesh!

Hi Winelake. The friendly MB dealer is at Meadowhall, Sheffield. It was very nice but I really don't need the estate version, and it throws list price over £40k

That's a major irritation - even with the silly £10k discounts...

It's increadibly sensitive to your type of driving. Our current tank is showing 88mpg at the moment. That's on 196 miles so far, 82% of the tank remaining. A weekend away, just charging before we set off, about 300 miles of all kinds of driving from motorway to B roads to urban gave just over 50mpg. If you can charge at each end of your 30 mile commute I reckon you'll see 60+ unless you make regular use of the performance.

When running ours in, I kept it in Sport mode most of the time to make sure the ICE was running. Gave high 30s when doing that, which I thought was pretty good considering what I was doing.

Forgive my ignorance, Chris, but what is ICE? I always thought that meant In Car Entertainment, but it doesnt make sense in the context of your sentence. Is this something to do with the car's computer learning your driving style or something?

The joy of ambiguous TLAs....I too thought it meant in car entertainment....until it meant something else :dk:

I suspect ICE (in car entertainment) got dropped once it started to be known as 'infotainment'. Yeuch.

I'll join the thick club with getting wet in a traffic jam waiting for my sunroof to close automatically. :p:o:rolleyes::thumb:

Us "thickos" should stick together! ;-)

One more question. Did anyone order their C350e with the upsized fuel tank option? 66 litres instead of 50 litres? I'm thinking of throwing it into the order, but wondered if there is a price to pay (handling, boot space, less electricity range due to weight gain etc)?

I didn't even know there was an option!

One thing to consider: is the fuel tank vapour-sealed? If you don't use much fuel, there's not a lot of point filling to the top because you're just lugging it around with you. I have a short average trip distance, so I only do half a tank unless I know there's a long journey coming up. However, if the fuel tank isn't sealed, your fuel will degrade and I hear it can get to the point where the engine will misfire.

Hi BTW

Same. Done a spreadsheet comparing the diesels I've been looking at with the C350e over the total cost of ownership of a 3 year lease and taking the governments BIK rises into consideration too (thieving sods!).

The C350e at an average Mpg of 42 blows everything else out of the water (assuming my company pays 11p/mile diesel and 14p/mile for petrol and hybrids) on cost. Tested against my current 320d at 54mpg avg, BMW X1 (the missus's favourite) at 53mpg, and the Jaguar XE R-Sport (too little room in the back, anyhow) at 57mpg.

I nearly made the costly mistake of adding 18 inch wheels on my sport premium which I think made £62 in extra tax cost per month to me !! dealer didnt point this out and he did know why i was going for a hybrid. I actually spotted in the small print in the e brochure
