C350e owners club

Is it possible to replace the km/h on the bottom left of the screen between t h e Speedo and rev counter with the external temperature?

400 miles so far and very impressed:bannana:

The saloon c350e I test drove last month definetly had an exterior temperature reading on the display.... weird

Hi, so I'm driving along 20-30 and the car in front brakes as normal. I brake but the car slows before my foot lands on the pedal. Is this active braking? On the dash I can bring up the bonnet of the car? Around the rear view mirror are a couple of sensors and the housing looks bigger than older cars.

Any info please.

There is a feature called brake assist that automatically breaks to keep a safe distance from the car in front. There's also a collision prevention assist feature that will execute an emergency stop and sound an alarm. My advice is to give plenty of room to cars that are turning off the road in front of you, especially if you have passengers [emoji51]

It uses the radar sensors in the bumper for this, if you have engine on ECO it will brake for you to regenerate battery charge, the sensors around the rear view mirror do other stuff like lane control.

Except if you have my car, then you have two of these triangle sensors but none of the features they support and no explanation as to why I have them from MB!

My best guess, based on what I've read over the last month or so, is that the unit behind the mirror has one 'triangle' for the lane assist and one for the distance keeper. The middle 'lens' appears to be the camera for reading road signs.

You get the lane assist in the passive assist pack and the distance keeper in the active pack.

I do wonder wether sometimes they fit just the housing, but no internals, for the lane and distance sensors. Even if you don't have the options. Maybe that just depends on the specific bulks slot and what the line is set for. Would seem odd though.

It's only a guess though as no one at the dealer seems to admit to knowing.

KM/H display is there all the time. :wallbash:
Exterior temperature should be visible on the odometer screen only.

There's been a bit of a discussion about the mirror housing. I wonder if it's for forward facing cameras as part of a plan to enhance the self-driving features? Even if they're not fitting the cameras yet, they might want to fit the housing. Just a guess.

I believe there are already forward facing cameras for various things, so it might not be a good guess.

Mercedes me, Remote online, Remote parking

Hi Guys,
So I've ended up in the fortunate position, after many months of number crunching and research, of ordering a C-350e Sport Prem saloon which is due in September sometime.....
I've currently got a C250d AMG line estate so I'm fairly familiar with the C class and it's quirks and foibles.
I'd dearly like an honest, un complicated answer regarding the Mercedes me "stuff"
The dealerships are clueless regarding what you do and don't get. "It's a C350e so you get Remote online free, oh no wait, sorry, that might change/have changed" or "MB don't do that anymore" or just blind "That'll be an extra £150 per year"
You guys have these vehicles.... What's the ACTUAL Freddie?
Also, Remote parking.... honestly, you'd have thought I was speaking Mandarin judging by the faces at the dealerships.... Is it just something I've seen on YouTube and only available in other countries? :dk:
You replies are appreciated

Mine arrived a year ago, so things may have changed, but:
1. Mercedes Me membership free for three years. TBC after that.
2. Remote parking. Not on my vehicle, but I think there's an option. I'm sure someone has posted a picture on this thread of their remotely parked C350e in a ridiculously tight space

I've not got the driivng pack, but mine has auto braking when you get too close, distance control in E mode and speed limit sign recognition.

Once when it was very icy, an error came up for a fault in the system, so I think this is the main purpose.

Thanks for the replies.

I owned a Mini (the BMW one and old one). The technician (mechanic in the old days) informed me all cars come fully equipped with tech. You just need the codes. Easier and cheaper on the production line but expensive for the buyer.
By the way the old Mini was the best car I've driven. Try a handbrake turn, lift off over steer or reverse spin etc in a new car.
Thanks for the help.
Don't get me started about "connect me". How do you sort the basic out and it would be easier getting into the Whitehouse, Pentagon, Downing Street etc.

You need the 360 camera option for the self park to work, and it's an additional purchase option on top of that. I forget the price but it didn't seem horrendous. All the services other than the most basic are free for the first three years and are them charged for.

All these details can be had definitively on the website when you go to the 'shop' section. I think you need to have your car set up in order to see what's applicable though.

FWIW now, when I bought ours in December, every feature the car was capable of worked online, included in the purchase price.

Can somebody confirm if this video is accurate? At around 2mins 20 secs the guy opens the flap on the first part of the risen floor and this is where the charging cables are stored. I have one on order but it was a saloon I test drove. The cables in the saloon I drove were stuffed in a side cubby. The images I have seen of the estate look as though the floor doesn't open in the same way.

Hopefully there is a place to conceal the cables as they look quite bulky.

Thanks in advance.

Joe

It's entirely accurate. If you prise the flap up there's a small space where the cables live.

Given the automatic parking's frankly appalling success rate on both my previous E class and the current C class, there is absolutely no way I would allow the car to park without me in it ... doing it myself.

No you don't. I've got a Premium Plus saloon with no other options so no 360 camera but the car will happily self park if I choose to let it. It does a very good job of the parking compared to my last car (VW Passat) but I find I can do it quicker myself so don't use it very often.

I think we're talking about two different features. There's park assist, that does the steering when you're in the car, but there's also remote parking pilot that allows you to drive your car from your phone. Frankly bonkers, but it's real: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k_o-H1j4zZs

Correct, the 'get out of the car and twiddle your finger on your phone" type parking. My PP with normal camera can't do that but does have the basic park assist, as do they all afaik.

Apologies for the lack of rigour in my post ;)

It's an interesting theory but my estate has both triangles with no function and my colleagues saloon has neither, so he has a neat small surround on his rear view mirror and I have a colossal chunk that serves no purpose!

Only just noticed your photo, mine looks just like that, same colour two so you could be same as me.....has those triangles but they do nothing....my colleagues saloon as mentioned doesn't have these but he's does the regeneration and beepy brake applying like mine.

Anyone have advice on energy providers for those that regularly charge at home?

Just moved house and looking at suppliers... cheapest according to money saving expert is economy energy for me. 12.380p per kWh and standing charge of 14.0p per day.

However n power unit rate is cheaper at 11.540p per kWh with a more expensive standing charge at 24.255p per day.

Am I right in thinking that when regularly charging an ev the cheapest unit rate per kWh is the best option, despite a more expensive standing charge?

Thanks
