C350e owners club

Can anyone beat this with a lower number?

So a reasonably big trip today started with full tank and 11mile charge, over 200 miles 95% motorway on adaptive cruise control between 70-80mph.

I'm not too bothered, love the car and have co. fuel card so no anxiety for me but anyone thinking of buying to go eco and save on fuel might want to rethink.

See photo OK a full load on roof (bikes) and inside but pretty impressive either way anyone gone Lower on a big trip, with approx 40 left in the tank this equate to approx 260 mile for a full tank

24mpg... this was my concern when i thought about out summer road trips with the roof box on and bikes on the towbar rack.

260 miles to a full tank... i hate going to the fuel station with 600 miles plus between fills.

Woah... 40? I'm on 27.7 and I drive in eco most of the time!! Tis really quite awful. Was expecting 45 to 50 with battery used alot. (And 35 to 40 on the engine)

I'm not sure eco is always more efficient than comfort. I think it reduces coasting potential, can over recover energy and holds high gears which might not make for optimum acceleration.

I tend to knock it into eco for long steady cruising but leave in comfort for areas with lots of acceleration zones.

I've been getting ~39 mpg on motorway journeys and up to 70 on shortish commutes. With a mix of steady cruising with occasional speedy overtakes or roundabout exits I end up around 42.

Goes to show that the C350e is the most overrated and overhyped car of our generation!!
Of course IMO..

In saying that, I had another 99.9 mpg commute into work this morning (23 miles). Absolutely zero complaints from me.

If you're getting 23 miles out of a full charge you're doing really well, or your commute has a lot of downhill coasting. My car gives a theoretical maximum 14 miles on a full charge and a real world 10 mile battery only range.

Don't forget, 'electric' miles are not free if you charge at home, works out to be roughly 55mpg in terms of equivalent cost per mile.

Yes, Ive not seen '19 miles' on the dash, although I think some on here have. Most Ive seen is 15 miles twice) in 2 months. Having said that I just checked my trip computer and the engine was off was 17 miles out of the 23 from this morning.

My commute is mainly flat, so I tend to see the 99.9 mpg on most trips both to and from work. Temperature makes a massive difference though. When its colder that figure is lower by about 15-20%.

Main difference I am noticing is in what Im putting in at the pumps. The last 2 months on average has been about £12 per week (to cover app 250 miles on average each week). I was putting in on average £30 or so a week into a 2.2 Honda Civic Diesel before I swtched to the merc. I do charge at home and at work - at work its free.

All in all Im really happy at the moment. :D

As of yesterday (Despite my 27.7.mpg average) i managed to do a 35 mile round trip left fully charged, and charged half way. I managed to do it soley on electric - barr a few blips in hybrid getting away from lights. I managed the wonderful 99.9mpg as well an odd vision.
On the way back, i started the car and electric showed 12 miles. Within 30 seconds of moving that upped to 17. Then to 18.. and then for about 20 seconds it shows 19!!! - and then almost as quickly as it came, dropped back to 16....

There was liiiiigggghhhttt at the end of the tunnel! :)

Very impressed i managed to do that route on leccy, and the whole journey was slow and start/stoppy - so perfectly suited :).

Now time to go turn Sports Plus mode back on ;)

I only ever assess mpg on very long term averages. Excluding my 'Sunday' sports car which due to the way I drive it offers an average of only around 23mpg, all of my day to day cars provided consistent averages through the years. The last few cars:- RX8 average through life (78k miles) about 22mpg; EvoX average over 72k miles a surprising 28mpg; Mercedes C350 (diesel) average over 85k miles 41mpg; Audi A4 Quattro 3litre diesel average over 76k miles 38mpg; Mercedes C350e average so far over 9k miles 38mpg. I would say it is very reasonable.

I go along with that idea. But my C320cdi average over 40k miles was only 33.5mpg; probably many more short journeys and an excitable right foot! It's early days but my one "proper" trip in my new C350e was also 38mpg according to the instruments. I'll wait for a few fill-ups before coming up with a proper figure.

My current average over 5100 tracked miles is 38.4 MPG. All fillups are over 200miles and have a min "tank" of 34.4 and a max of 48!

I'm also tracking a pence per mile to try to include electric.
That's running at 12.8ppm over the same mileage, but it is getting distinctly better

That figure correlates with my experiences so far. The car's calculated figure since it was delivered a month ago is 46.3 mpg over 781 miles. About 50% of the mileage has been managed with the engine off (apparently). The best I did without charging the car (so only hybrid mode with about 16% charge) was 42 mpg on a 40 mile round trip using A and B roads - driving like a nun I must add!

I generally manage my daily commute (5 miles each way) between home and work purely on electric power. I charge at work and just about manage to get home and back as long as I pre-heat the car whilst connected to the mains at work.

Likewise I seem to regularly get 10 miles range on a charge. I charge up at work and can just about get home and back (4.9 miles each way). I have noticed that I get best range in Comfort mode + E-Mode. If I use Hybrid it seems to give up on electric mode when there is still 25% or more charge left!

I fitted one of those British Gas energy meters to my 3 pin charge point at work yesterday and recorded my recharge this morning. When I arrived at work the car was showing 26% charge after a 10 mile round trip. The recharge used 5.35 kWh of electricity at a cost of 56p. So 5.6p per mile which I am pretty happy with and total carbon emissions of 2.676kg (apparently!).

I have got varied mileage depending on type of journey.

I usually get around 42mpg on a motorway journey with no charge when leaving but a fair bit more with a full charge on a journey from Milton Keynes to London - hopefully picture attached!

35mpg mixed driving at normal road speeds, haven't got it in me to drive like a nun, life's too short. Could do with finding another 5 mpg to match the old golf gtd. Mind you that was driven like I stole it..

I don't know why but I'm suddenly getting hugely better fuel economy! This morning's 80 trip starting with full charge and running hybrid till 7 miles electric range then e-save on motorway at 67mph followed by hybrid for the last few...

My economy has also stepped up a league. It seemed to be after the first 1000 miles or so ...

I'm thinking it just things loosening up [emoji12]

My economy is also much better which I'm guessing is due to the warmer weather we have.

On my latest tankful, I've covered 350miles at 54.3mpg overall. This is for a 25mile commute each way to / from work - charge overnight at home only (no charge capability at work yet) and careful driving in Economy mode on e-mode to the motorway, hybrid for motorway part and back again to e-mode.

I really wanted to push and see how many miles I could get from 1 tank of petrol.

Regular charging (at work only), running the car only in Eco mode and driving sensibly.

I was slightly disappointed with the results as I expected over 50mpg but there's a few hills around the edge of Manchester where I work and they really punish fuel economy.

I was also annoyed that the range disappears when the petrol gets into the reserve level, the car at one point even forced itself into e-mode when I knew full well that there must have been like 40 miles worth of petrol in it. The juice inevitably ran out and the engine kicked in completely fine so I've no idea why it did this. I ran and ran it when it was in the reserve as I wanted to push it as far as I could, eventually the last white bar on the petrol gauge starts to flash so I figure I must be really low right now, pulled up at a petrol station to fill up, I couldn't believe it when I could only put 43.7 litres of petrol in it! :wallbash: As someone who likes to run off a full tank and fill up with as much as possible, this quite annoyed me.
