C350e owners club

Anybody tried charging in France - I'm heading over there soon and wondered if the 13A lead with an adapter would work?

Haven't been on here for quite a while and I am pleased to see that there are many more owners enjoying their 350e.
A major reason for not regularly posting is the difficulty of having to read basically one thread. Great pity that the Admin' haven't set up a sub forum for the 350e so that topics are able to be allocated to a separate sub forum.

Anyway the reason I am posting to today is because I thought you may be interested my experience today.
I was traveling quite happily and being followed by a Transit van. Approaching a roundabout which I had positioned myself to take the second exit. Suddenly the blind spot monitor alarmed, our seat belts were pre-tensioned and finally the brakes were applied automatically. Why? Because a young man in a small Vauxhall had chosen to overtake the me and the Transit before getting to the roundabout and eventually leave via the second exit. Really spooky to experience, particularly the seat belts pulling us, my wife and I, back firmly to the backrest and to realise the car is being braked without any intervention by me.

Hi all,

Should be the 'proud' owner of a c350e premium plus in first week of June.

Slightly nervous having read about the water ingress faults. Hope they have fixed the issue before they ship the car to me.

Currently run a e220 which has been absolutely rock solid and never missed a beat for me so it would be a real shame if the c350e wasn't the same.

Fingers crossed :)

You have just justified my absence for a while on this forum. I had no idea that there was an issue of water ingress :)

You are in for a real treat.

Expecting good things but didn't even know the car was capable of your post above :)

7 weeks and 3000 miles of ownership and loving it so far. Great combination of performance and economy which you can switch between almost at will.

Not had the water ingress issue and I leave the can plugged in in all weathers.

My commute is 35 miles each way with no opportunity to charge at work. Currently getting about 74mpg going and 42mpg on the way back so averaging about 56mpg which i'mHappy with. Weekends I'm getting nearer 80mpg with a lot of short journeys.

Will be a proud owner next Wednesday, been a long wait since September but sounds like it will be worth it!

Which colour etc have you chosen ?
A very loooong six days ahead :)

Mine says the temp when it's off in the bottom right, when on it says "Trip" which I feel is a bit unnecessary, am I missing where this is turned on? Either in a not finding it way or it not being on my software version??

Seems I am wrong, it does have the temp! I used that digital mph screen quite a bit as it's the least distracting and it reminds me of my digital only speedo in my Civics :)

I decided to give the full 4-lights 13A charge a go last night...for about an hour, less heat than expected, the extension got a little warmer but nothing concerning, the warmest bit was the plug on the charge cable, the plug on the extension at the mains was actually not very warm at all, though the cable coming out of it had some warmth.

I did check the cable every 15 minutes but at least I know now it's an option if required.

Well done! You beat me to it. I was coming back to say that there are eight screens in the "Trip" category of the MFD; the OAT is mentioned in only one for some bizarre reason. So I prepared these two piccies - Engine off and Engine on. I wanted to practise with Photoshop anyway so here they are even though the problem has gone away.

I'm going in a couple of months and wondered the same thing.

Me too in 12 days and onwards to Italy. I've decided not to bother taking the "brick". I'll rely on charge while driving. Staying in hotels and B&Bs will probably not give much opportunity to charge anyway and the "brick with 8m of cable would be taking up too much room that I would rather allocate to purchases of wine and other loot

I cannot see any logical reason why the word trip cant be replaced with OAT in each of the screens.

No temp display in my car at all, looks like yet another visit to the dealer to get fixed.. At least they clean it for me!

just went through all my screens on the MFD with the engine off, then on. Still no OAT! Is there something you need to switch on??

No - it is either there because it was built with it or not. Those who don't have it seem to be able to get it via dealer software upgrade but with seemingly mixed success.

I know from BMW experience dealers are not keen on software updates - they take a long time as often it re-flashes many systems just to upgrade 1 part - think IOS updates on steroids. There is also a risk in interruption or other error that you break something far more fundamental than the OAT.

Very frustrating. My estate (delivered 14 April) came with the OAT. I more interested if it has a warning of any sort if the temp drops below 4C as that is what can catch you out on some longer winter trips.

Just heard back from Mercedes via Twitter with ref to OAT and they have been in touch with my local dealer to explain the software update. The dealer is coming to pick the car up on Monday morning to update and enable outside air temperature.
