c220 cdi estate
Hi all,

New to this and my first MB.

I have just bought a c220 cdi diesel elegance estate. I understand this is also known as a W203. The year is late 2003.

Thank you guys for the discount at Eurocarparts, just got sorted with usual bits for an oil and filter change.

This is a one previous owner car and I have the MB service sheets from new. Unfortunately it does not show any major repairs in its 122,603 miles only the A/B services.

Could anyone help me and tell me at what typical mileage should one change the cam belt. It appears not to have been done, should I do it as a matter of preventative maintenance.

I love the car and apart from a few groans from the suspension (which I am having looked at this week) it seems just the perfect buy for my old age and poverty.!!!

Thanks and praise to all who contribute and run this forum.
Cheers The Chip...

Welcome!

There is no cambelt, it is chain driven.

No belt on the 203, it's a chain drive for the camshaft.

Thanks a million, does this mean that I do not have to have it checked out..Unless there is a problem.
You guys rock..

Apologies for dumb question. !!!

No such thing as a dumb question!

As long as the chain is not noisy it should be fine, regular oil and filter changes help prolong the life of the chain and sprockets. If your car is automatic and the gearbox oil and filter has not been changed or has been but over 40,000 ago it may benefit from being changed now.

Suspension noise is not unuusal, upper and lower torque struts often have wera in the bushes at this mileage. Lemforder make OE parts for suspension and you can get good deals on thes from either Euro Car Parts or Car Parts for Less. ECP often have a promotion wherby typing MBCLUB25 or sometimes MBCLUB30 into the discount box will give you further money off although Car Parts for Less can be even cheaper and are owned by ECP!

That is great info. Thank you. I have no noises and car has been serviced from new by MB dealer, however I want to change the oil and filters as I like to be in control of that.
I just ordered my oil and filters from Eurocarparts using the MCLUB25. Worked a treat.
I will now price up the struts and arms from Car Parts for less.

Cheers The chip.
