Detailed the Oil Burner e320 cdi

2nd honeymoon trip completed, Couldnt have done it without the Satnav was perfect through the whole trip :)

Weather was a cracking 33 degrees, stunning roads and cracking speeds upto 145mph where permitted surprising a bmw 6 series and a Golf R estate lol

Just turned 90k miles and she covered the 1,800 miles in 4 days, the car runs even smoother now and doesnt puff soot on hard acceleration

The Slight rumble which had me worried turned out tobe the nsf and osf tyres (Maxxis) which were out of shape on the inside edge, putting them to rear solved the noise issue so a alignment check will be done.:thumb:

Absolutly stunning car, 600miles from the Hoek v Holland to Saalbach on a tank of Derv 43mpg at Autobahn speeds mostly in cruise control. Wasnt tired at all i so love these s211's anyway here's a couple of pics including the 2nd love of my life lol:D

i love my s211 just worried about using it now lol

I think I mentioned about not wanting to drive it to you a while back before your 800 mile trip. The more you clean & detail the less you want to use the car. That is how I am anyway sad but true in my case. Top work though well done you :)

Had a new conductor plate fitted and a atf fluid filter change, the car had to go back straight after as the numpties split the gearbox sump gasket on doing the job, so far so good the car drives lovely and changes are swift and smooth and the box has had a good flush through.

Decided to make a start cleaning the Bonnet catches as they were letting the look of the slam panel down.

I did regrease them afterwards tobe on the safe side.

Bonnet Catches

Well done a few hundred miles in her now since the Gearbox fluid and gasket was replaced and despite the garages cockup all seems ok :)

So i carried on with cleaning her up, Bonnet/latches n catches make so much of a difference clean i also painted the heads of the original bolts after and regreased everything.

Whilst the Bumper was away ive painted the towbar, not that it can be seen whent he bumpers in place but just thought i may as well.

Also got the Bumper back from the painter, awesome finish and well worth the effort although it was a pain to refit on my todd so got my 7 year old to give me a hand lol.

Well the cleaning continues

I wasnt happy with the colour match in the end of the bumper so thats been taken off again and sent back to the painting guy who's kindly sorting it.

Whilst its off i continued to clean up the rear arches and was glad i did. Surprised to see so much debris and dirt behind also caught a little bit of rust around the spot welds which ive delt with nowt serious just surface but glad ive taken the time to do it.

Anyway here it is now matching the front.

I shampoo'd the Arch liner and washed it down with a hose, and used gt85 and a rag cleaning the arch. Usual old engine oil on the black plastics. Now to get the caliper painted to match the others.

Couple of Mod's

Wanted to extract a little more performance from the engine so did abit of research here and there.

I wanted to keep a standard look wherever possible and utilise as much of the standard bit n bobs i could.

I've fitted a e320 cdi v6 Intercooler as its quite abit larger (core wise) than the early I6, and ive done this with great effect.

The car definitely pulls harder and smoother than before, then i fitted a free flowing cat back exhaust which again was a standard size of the old one but has larger exits it was a doddle to fit and the result is more free revving engine again smooth and consistant power throughout the rpm it has also smoothed the pause i used to get from 4th -5th.

I know the above wont agree with many but the car is now just how i like it and can always be put back to standard if the time came. here are some pics.

I'm off to remove the wifes intercooler ....

I'm off to remove the wifes intercooler ....

hahaha :D i was very surprised myself at the difference but certainly feel now it was worth doing. It is a straight forward swop over althought i did have to slacken off a a/c pipe then re tighten as it was alittle close and didnt want it rubbing.

Truth will be told at North weald in May if there is any increase of performance for sure.:thumb:

Just a very quick update, I noticed a small leak from the top of one of the injectors, so i ordered a new Leak off rail from Mercedes, wasn't cheap at £113 plus vat but it fitted straight on with no messing about, Whilst i was at it i also ordered a new Osf drivers seat surround as it was damaged that was £37 plus vat so pretty fair i thought, was also i little bugger to fit lol but did it.

And also 2x radiator pins that secure the rad into the top of the slam panel as the chap who changed the rad miss placed them they were £2 each so didnt loose sleep lol.

The car is now pretty much in perfect order, inside and out, various small marks here and there but at 92,000 miles its to be expected i suppose.

Since having her ive covered 12,000 miles and Spent around £5,000 keeping her in good working order. The car totally shows this and i wouldn't changed a thing. :)
