Just thought I would share this one with you in case it benefits anyone local. A couple of weeks ago a pal of mine was talking about a garage that had just serviced his wife's Porsche and he was raving about them saying they are really good on Prestige cars and MB's are one of their specialties.

So fast forward to last week and JSWMBO Fiat Punto needs an MOT, now I've been all over this car and its mint nothing wrong whatsoever, so thought I would give this garage a try. Anyway on the day of the test I go to check the fluids and the bl@@dy bonnet cable snaps  So call them up tell them the story they say no problem we can still open the bonnet for the MOT, so I tell them whilst they have it they may as well change the cable. Car is MOT'd and passes with flying colours (no surprise there) Dealer lets them down with bonnet cable and says can't deliver, the garage pull out all the stops source another one, send someone to fetch it fit it and have my the car back at the exact time they promised. Great Service :thumb:

I went back to pick the car up and got talking to the owner who was working on a W163 ML whose warning lights were lit up like a Christmas tree, told me they did loads of MB for various people including a couple of names I knew. Their diagnostic kit is state of the art and these guys really know what they are doing. I was Impressed

Fast forward to this week my W208 is ready for a B service and air con regas. Now I normally service my own cars but I'm piled out with work, time is at at premium and I cant do a regas anyway. So thougt I would give this garage a call. Printed off the ESS sheet call them and discuss exactly what I want doing.

B service, no air filter as it has a K&N but it is ready for plugs, so needs those changing as well as Oil and Oil filter and fuel filter.

Price for this £125
Aircon Re-gas £35

So car is booked in for next Tuesday and i'll report back how I go on.

The garage in question is ETS Auto Centre, Bramley Rotherham

Are you supplying the parts and oil?

No they supplying everything, Oil used is Quantum semi syn, remainder of parts from ECP. Which is fine by me :thumb:

When we had the Motorsport business we used to charge £165 for a W208 4 cyl based on semi syn and not using MB parts, so think £125 is a bit of a bargain

Wow

Will let you know how I get on and how they did with it then I'll know if it is a true bargain or not but so far I'm very impressed by them:thumb:

OK just thought I would report back on my B service and I definitely got a bargain :bannana:

Everything done perfectly everything lubed as it should be, all fluids topped up all checks done full bill of health on brakes and all systems (which I knew). On the inspection they found the fuel pipe between the pump and filter was a little perished, so they changed that and this morning on my way there it popped a rear bulb, they changed that and the best bit they did not charge me for either the pipe or the bulb.

Aircon regassed and serviced, system indicator reset and checked for fault codes, again a clean bill of health and ice cold air con.

As they said price for B service was £125 including VAT, I'd budget a little more than this as they did not have to change my air filter as it has a performance one fitted.

Air con service and regas £35 including VAT

All in £160 and I'm very impressed with their diligence and attention to detail, covers and mats used at all times and a full discussion on all work done

Definitely recommended :thumb:

Thats sounds good for me. I'm in Rotherham and work 800 yds from Bramley. I'll just ask for MB parts to keep the warranty.

You should be fine just specify what you want and I'm sure they will oblige, I was in there the other day for tyres and they were servicing a Ferrari 458 so they know their stuff. Just tell them Ian with the CLK and Punto sent you :D

I just paid £45 plus vat - so that's great value.

It costs £48 plus vat every 6 months to get the office aircon serviced, so I'm not too bothered about £45 after 9 years of owning my ML - but I do like a bargain, and it's a shame that Rotherham is a long way from me.

Maybe a car service / curry night / gtg ?

Well I have to sing these guys praises again and no I'm not associated with them. I am a fully qualified mechanic but am currently one of their customers as with what they charge its not worth getting my hands dirty.

You will have seen my thread on JSWMBO Beetle needing a service well yet again another 2 local garages let me down. So although these guys were not VW Indies I asked them to service the Beetle and give it a good going over looking for any problems. The did exactly what I asked found a coil spring broken on the tip and two tyres worn on the inside. So they gave it a full service did the spring fitted 2 tyres and did the tracking total bill £290

At the weekend the EML cam on so I scanned it and it came back with PO411 Secondary air injection incorrect flow. A common fault on VW but it can usually be one of 3 things, broken air pump, faulty combi valve or leaking blown air/vacuum pipes. Unfortunately to test these you need Vagcom (VW version of Star for the uninitiated) This I don't have yet. So I rang ETS in Rotherham to see if they had it and could check the components individually to determine if any were faulty. The did said they knew VW well and would test it out and rectify the issue.

I dropped it in at 0845 this morning and at 1045 the called me to say it was ready they had checked the individual components and pump and valve were fine but one of the vacuum pipes was leaking as a precaution they changed all the pipes to the combi valve and reset the ECU

The charge for all this £20 which I gladly paid along with some extra to give the lads a good drink

well pleased :bannana:

It almost sounds too good to be true.
Certainly very good value for a good job.
