Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

Guernsey is even worse - took the 968 tip cab there a few years ago, don't think I ever got out of 2nd gear in the days we were there! Loads of the roads were not only twisty and slow, they were also narrow even in a 968 cab!

Sounds like Wales.

Definite **** extensions then?
There's a lot of very, very wealthy people live here, have to splash it on something I guess.

I know when it all kicked off with the ex Chelsea fc owner Abramovich,Jersey state confiscated £75m of assets he had on the island.

IIRC you have to have a pretty high net worth and/or income to be allowed to buy property there?

Or be born there?

Yup I think if you've already lived there for a certain number of years (over 10)? you are also allowed to buy a house. But property prices are pretty insane ... I remember reading that the average for a 4-bed house there was well over a million

An old school friend lives there with her husband who’s actually South African.
I don’t know if they’ve got their own house or what he does but she’s been there for 20 odd years working in the hotel business. They got a 13 year old son who was born there.

I found some official stats on property costs in Jersey. As of Q2 this year the average prices were as follows:

1-bed flat: £356k
2-bed flat: £558k
2-bed house: £621k
3-bed house: £821k
4-bed house: £1,297k

"The mix-adjusted average price for Jersey was greater than that of London and more than twice that of the UK and England."

I guess rental prices there would also be high (in line with property costs), so it looks like locals would need a pretty decent job to afford their own place!

It's certainly a lovely place to visit though.

I’ve only been there once which was back in 1997. The parents of the bride were Jersey aristocracy and their own roller was used for the wedding.

I know this is cheating somewhat as I didn’t actually see this, and it’s not a car, but I felt compelled to share it with the collective! I do love the cafe racer style of bike, but never before have I seen such a beautiful bike as this - and a Norvin as well. I can’t stop looking at it, everything seems perfect, even the colour.

A rare sight these days unfortunately. I miss mine.

This is actually a ULEZ exempt heavily modernised/modified Morris Mini 1000cc! Not one of the later Coopers with the big arches and big superlite wheels. Interesting…

I saw this one last weekend. It was immaculate - i wonder if it might have even had a heritage shell, it almost looked too pristine. My Dad's friend is just finishing his rebuild of a works Cooper - im not sure which one it is. He did have the ex Paddy Hopkirk Tulip Rally winner in his collection but sold it a while back. He also had a couple of works blocks still in their wax paper. I had a ride in the Tulip car, still with all the Halda etc - not massively quick by todays standards but the noise of the straight cut box was sublime.mini 1.jpg

This one even had Yoko A008 tyres which i remember were always the tyre of choice. Im amazed they still make them.
