Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

369 horses and gets to 60 in 4.4s though....the electric is only 131 of that....so 238 horse from a 3 pot 1.5 is respectable.

Funnily enough I was only talking to someone today about the possibility of shoe horning the Koenigsegg Gemera 2.0 three-cylinder twin turbo engine into something tiny and light, like a Smart Roadster. Unlikely to happen but interesting to investigate.

Agree. If these are your thing. A very affordable "supercar" not necessarily outright performance figures (although certainly no slouch) But definitely looks wise.

True....but the beamer does not have M6 or whatever on the bootlid....so its not pretending to be something it's not...like the C63.

What’s the C63 pretending to be? These newer Mercs confuse me.

Incidentally... the TR7 was called in an American car magazine at the time 'The Great Pretender', in reference to its X1/9 mid-engined look (complete with pointless ventilation louvers behind the cockpit), while in fact it has a traditional Triumph 4-Cyl engine mounted longitudinally at the front. This design was meant for the more affluent segmente of the US market who (according to Triumph) wanted a 'small European sports car' without understanding or caring what's under the bonnet.

My first wellsite job was in Basilicata in S Italy and the Italian owner of the hotel we stayed at (there wasn’t enough room at the wellsite) was an ex professional rally driver. Very successful too, he had a wall full of trophies - I keep meaning to find out who he was. I think he raced for Opel. He’d retired and returned home to build the hotel. Anyway, he had a yellow TR7 and he kept saying it was the best sportscar ever! It still confuses me to this day!

That trip was memorable in so many other ways. Going porcini picking at 4am with some aged locals after being plied with wine and grappa at breakfast. Working a 68 hour shift and then our cabin at the rig caught fire while me and my colleague were asleep at the microscopes. Laughing hysterically when we nearly suffocated during an H2S drill as nobody had shown us how to turn on the air for our emergency respirators. Then finally being ‘interviewed” one evening at the hotel by the local Mafia Baron. The hotel owner also had a Lamborghini Earth mover I remember. Happy Dayz!

This is Looe today.....I have always found them quite an interesting design.

Of course this car was developed alongside its much better looking(!) and far more practical brother, the i3.....;)
