Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

The holy grail. (For me).
Fwiw Dazzle, they've always appealed to me too . Having said that, I've never actually even sat on one let alone ridden one. Because I've ridden so many bike, and generally the newer they are the better the riding experience is, it may be one of those itches best left unscratched for me.?

To affirm our synchronous mindset mate, here's one I spotted in Corfu 2016. As it was in a shop window, I was very tempted to ask,,,,,,,,

I did actually ride one in Corfu about 32 years ago. There are plenty of these old BMW’s all over Greece.

This is the first one I've seen actually "in use" and it's bl00dy huge! I like the numberplate too, even if it's been the subject of a "ghetto repair"(!):

I've seen that in the UK, recognise the plate!

Pilgrim sumo mk 1, based on the cortina suspension, probably the cortina engine too or maybe a ford V6?
I could see a line of carbs central (and close up into) the bonnet intake, so my guess (from your options) would therefore be the V6 ?

Having a closer look, I'd now say Granada MK2 suspension, 5 wheel studs rather than 4 so probably the granada's engine too. Some people put the rover V8 in the mk 1 but the chassis wasn't designed for it and was known for twisting.

Ex BMW owner?
They've certainly mastered the parking bit, but I didn't get a chance to see if they know how to use their indicators, so the jury's out on that ;)

In fairness, it was long enough to overhang the bay even if the nose was touching the bollard marking the end of it next to the walkway, and I doubt you'd have been able to open the doors sufficient to get in or out of it if parked centrally in a bay with something parked next to it so I do have some sympathy. As I said, the thing is h-u-g-e!

Is that the engine noise I can hear....or Colin Chapman spinning like a top in his grave????

That was my first thought when I saw the size of the thing!

For a company whose founder was fastidious about weight saving to the extent that he used to instruct his mechanics not to use washers under nut and bolt heads "because I'm not paying to have them travel around a racetrack", they do seem to have lost their way a bit.

...and pointless!

I saw the "other" one in Melrose 16 months ago.

At the time, my car had not been lowered, so would appear even smaller now.
What size wheels are those.
They look great but blimey they is humongous!

Can you imagine the old (lovely) Saab parked next to it 😱

For a great big lump, it's better looking than many - I'll give it that - but it's not very Lotus-y. Take the badges off and it could be anything.

However, I'm interested in the reversing cameras in lieu of door mirrors. Presumably there are little screens mounted at the ends of the dashboard (or in the doors?) - how do they compare to fuddy-duddy old mirrors that seem to have served us well for 130 years or so? Also, I can think of a couple of awkward junctions near me where, due to the unusual layout, you have to quickly lean right forward to get a wider view in the driver's door mirror to check for traffic - I wonder how that would play out with this Lotus. (If I had to turn round in my seat to look instead, I'd find that quite uncomfortable due to having a stiff neck.)

Audi had screen mirrors year's ago....2018 or so ......not very reliable though or so I've heard.

Thing about mirrors is that you can change your view by moving your head. With screens your stuck with what's there.
That was precisely the point I was trying to make (only you put it rather more succinctly than I did!).
