I havent made a 1000 miles after last service and ASSYST say I need service D WTF?

What's the difference between A, B, D service? There is also C anyway :) I did B service a year after the previous one was done and it was due to the board comp. message... The car has done 4-7k km between those two.

I under stand that assyt changes in the way described, but to start on a D right after a B seems Odd, so there must be a link to age, mileage and style of driving. however the first 14k have been driven the same as the second, so why not a B service?

I think the 'normal' run of things is usually to alternate between A and B services, with C to H interspersed when bigger bits need changing.

Remember that some items are purely time based - not mileage. For example routine things such as brake fluid change are done every 2 years or so (and take quite a time to perform - particularly if you have SBC), and engine coolant is changed periodically too. This will have an impact on the service schedule and time/cost estimation which may not line up with what you would expect from the next service.

Best bet is to interrogate your cluster as described above and see what the car is anticipating for its service requirements. Or you can go to that link someone kindly posted on here (somewhere!) where you can print your own service sheet out based on model and options, mileage etc.

Suspect they didn't reset it when it was last in for a service?

Ring 'em up and make your case.

My guess is you're right. I always check Assyst Plus on the way out of the dealers after a service just to make sure it has been reset.

I thought that ASSYST Plus also monitored the condition of the oil?

Was this a main dealer or an independant?I have no idea of what a service centre is :o

It does John but it also has a time limit built in, which I think is two years, so that if you haven't had the car serviced it switches from a mileage countdown to "days to next service".

My S-Class alternates between days and mileage. It depends on whether i am driving short or long distances, long for miles and short trips days.

Thanks a lot guys...

I had feeling is that the assyst was doctored. Just a month before it started to flash (about 5 month from the last service) the guy who did the service (manager of the service dept in Watford) called me to ask if I am not in need to do another service. I was surprised (only 5 months!)...

I thought that he did something on purpose. He is very tenacious. After the previous previous service he called me few times I could barely rid of him....

I think I need to look for another service center TBH...

This definitely sounds suspicious. If you have the time/inclination I reckon you have good grounds for submitting a complaint to the dealer principal about this guy's conduct and the settings on your assyst system.

Oh, and certainly change to a different service centre afterwards...

Well... although this is not pleasant experience but I wont make troubles. Perhaps the chap is just trying to build up his bonus... I can only step aside :)

If it wasnt any crisis I'd probably wont even note it.. Is a bit different now... But not his fault,
