I'm obviously biased but would also say R129 SL500. You've got a convertible for the summer and a 2 door coupe (with the hard top on) for winter. And you can't beat a nice V8 if mpg isn't an issue

Audi S2 ABY or the 2001 shape RS4 or anything with the AAN engine.

The above cars can be tuned to put out some pretty serious power.

Hard to ignore the original Porsche Boxter for the money they fetch, no power bragging rights but a nice car that drives well!

Rewind the clock 12 years and you could have got a nice E30 M3 or integrale. I managed to sell mine before the values went and doubled:fail

I always wanted an E30 M3 but never had the spare cash back when they were £6k or so ... Look at them now! A friend of a afriend bought a mint convertibe M3 E30 for about £12 k years ago ..
Not a fan of the S2 but keeping an eye out for Rs4 and Rs6.
Like Boxsters too ...

I had and e39 m5 for years. I loved it. It was a fantastic car. The e55 that I have bought recently is much faster but not as engaging as the e39. That said I was stuck in traffic on the m25 and I was very glad of the auto box and not the heavy clutch..

I have to agree with others , having bought one, I think the e55 is awesome. Makes me really think about the value I would get out of spending 50k more to get the current e63. Okay, so the interior etc would be much more modern - obviously, but I believe the e55 to be as fast as I ever need to go in a 4 door.

I have more if needed but like the 8k mark because it doesnt keave much room to depreciate. If i keep for 2-3 years and it halves I have only lost 4k if you see what I mean.
Not a great fan of the R230 ... I think they look a bit feminine, especially compared to the R129? Having said that I have not even sat in one and now so many are in the £7k to £9k mark maybe I should have a look so good thought.

Very nice ... I have always leant towards Bentley though but this is closer to the type of thing that pushes my buttons more. A Roller in some cool colour or amazing spec/ history would definatley be considered.
