I've just bought a CL55 AMG, am I mad?

Had the car for a fortnight now and not had a warning light come up yet!

It's been plugged into Star twice just to be certain and it is showing no stored or live faults...

The Breakfast Run is calling your CL.

Be careful - there was a patch of ABC oil on my dads drive on that fateful day I drove it home before the light went on.

Fingers crossed it was a one off. Granted I was doing the traffic light grand prix a few times that day.

Because it's not made a murmur, I've simply used it every other day without problem but I intend on getting my indie to go through it with a fine eye in a couple of weeks and get the main issues sorted.

I've took the car in this afternoon to have my indie go over it with a keen eye and he's going to call me tomorrow with the good/bad news.

Still no ABC light though...

There's a bit of fluid around the ABC pump, it needs certain seals replacing before we can check to see if the pump is fubar'd.

And the results are in...

The ABC pump is a goner and I've been quoted £800 including VAT for a new one from Mercedes. By the looks of it, someone's noshed a repair to the pump just to get it sold...(not you Mark obviously, probably the person that sold you it)

Including labour and sorting out the other list of faults, I should end up spending about £2k on it if I choose that route but then I'd have a sorted W215 CL55.

It's well worth it. Olly sorted mine out when I first bought it.

You won't get more bang for your buck anywhere...

Glad to hear it's coming in at ever so slightly less than the 9k I was quoted mate.

If I had not have been buying a house in the next few weeks, i was 50/50 on sorting it myself, but probably not the best idea given labour/indie costs down my neck of the woods.

I still miss the thing (starting it up with the keyless go, and everything comes to life like the millenium falcon.. ahhh) but I made the right choice, and she's with the right guy :)

The previous owner said the guy before him had the ABC hoses 'replaced', which is probably your bodged fix right there. On the flip side there is a brand new rad in there that he paid for.

My indie went through the car with a fine toothed comb and tried to work out how they 'achieved' that figure and he was stumped...:dk:

I love Keyless Go and once you get used to it, you then struggle to get used to cars without it.

The ABC problems are all now sorted and I'm a few quid lighter. :D

Now to start work on all the other niggly bits and then she will be tip-top!

Money well spent.

Getting to work on any parts even slightly worn today and the results are that the left and right top arms will be replaced, along with the right and left thrust arms.

That'll be another £5-600 towards the Mercedes parts Christmas party!

At this rate it'll be Bernard Matthews frozen turkey slices for Christmas.
