These are great, some of them look like MB "Boutique" ones, others I haven't seen before.

Just bought the key ring (top photo posted by Shude). £10.00 + £.75 del, not bad I think. Saves a visit to the Fleeceshaw and Webb, Chelsea.

David
PS: Next, must buy a digital camera.

dont u mean Bradshaw? I only knoe this as I got the car from Chelsea.

Thanks David, <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Indeed, t'was I that was looking for a fancy MB keyring. One of those on ebay was very close to what I was looking for. Some cool ones that Shude has posted too.

BTW, just out of interest Shude, looking at your smartkey, I have two for my car, one is marked YMOS and looks identical to your key. However, I have a second key that's smaller, marked Huf, that seems much more fancy, especially with a chromed star on the back of the key. Is there more than one manufacturer for MB smartkeys? and if you had to order a replacement can you specify from which source? I much prefer the Huf key as opposed to the YMOS one.

Thanks again guys,

Good memory there David <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Ahhh , you got the new key with the star on the back......:D

When our cars were made , it was the key without the star , and on our 2000 c class the key had a chrome star on the back of it and a grey key release on the top instead of the black one......

Don't think there is any diference. Did you get the small flat key too ?

Fleeceshaw is my alternative to Stealership.

BTW. I all noticed some Keys similar to the one Shude's posted a pic of on EBAY. Unfortunately for me, my car has a rather normal looking key. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

A normal key is better , it means you can get a clifford alarm and the keys don't cost £60 odd quid.

Yeah , the credit card key , have you tried to start the car with it ? does it work?

No, you can't start the car with it: the key in it is for unlocking the driver's door, the boot (if the lock actually works) and the glove box. &nbsp; The &quot;key&quot; you use to start the car uses some kind of IR link to establish it's the right key.

You can still fit an aftermarket alarm to the car btw, regardless of key...

are we talking about the same key?

Im talking about the key with no buttons on it and the metal key in the top , if you put it into the ignition , it releases the steering lock i finks , will confirm later. ( car in carpark below me just now )

ehhh .. THE SURVEY SAYS &quot; YES , you can start the car with the wee flat key!&quot; &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

Give it a bash , no diference at all . I think you will find that to open the car , it used a blend of IR and RF to authenticate the key ( that comes from an old sales pamflet) .

Buying my car 2nd hand, I never received the emergency (non powered key), I guess the previous owner lost it <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> . I just got two of the standard smartkeys, one old style identical to Shude's as pictured in his post and one new style with the chromed star on the back and the slightly different design of sliding metal key with grey release latch.

And yes they both work <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Out of interest, what is the weird noise that occurs when inserting the key into the ignition? Sounds like something clamping down or latching onto the key.

S.

The noise is the Steering lock engaging/disengaging. Have you also noticed that there is a delay on it releasing the key and the key will not come out if your foot is still on the break pedal.

From left to right: flat key, older remote and new (smaller)remote.

And dont even start on model differences...

BTW, the first pic posted, i got 10 of those keyrings free from a local stealership, thrown in with a load of gear i bought at 22% RRP, SSHHH!!, dont tell anyone...

Half of it was like c-class/slk gear and i dont have either car!!

We still manage to shift it well. Even tho' we arent a stealership <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Those don't have the boot release button do they? &nbsp;S'pose that's not possible on an estate...

Well spotted , yes, they are the estate ones.

But there is also another 2 keys not on here. The Key with the round central button and the flip out key. And the newer style of that one with two buttons: open and close functions.

V12, any of those keyrings for sale? <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

I've &nbsp;been looking for ages for a decent MB keyring.
