My New W209 CLK - Large Modding Project

looking good Karl, I liked the look without the number plate when i did mine but for obvious reason had to put one on. The plinth was £90 odd !

Not sure on the carbon bit, I was thinking the same when my bumper was last off but opted not to do it, like you say leave it on, if you dont like it it can always come off.

On the E63 bumper , the inner frame from MB is just a cut up version of a normal facelift frame, it looked like someone had altered it with a hacksaw!

Number plate plinth arrived, correct part £47.20 (trade price :( :( :( )

Thanks for the comments guys!

Worse Mod Ever (To do).

Right, id say about 95% perfectly fitted. small panel gap under the headlights that is virtually unnoticeable.

My hands are cut to shreds and im knackered, every part of fitting it was grief, even wiring up the foglights was virtually impossible as the loom wouldnt stretch so I had to cut the OEM cable ties and cut through the binding to get some more reach from the wiring in order to get it to fit. lucky the plugs are the same.

I had to completely remove all wheelarch lining from each side after removing each wheel before I could get decide access to the infamous 'pin' panel, a doddle once you have removed the wheel.

On its maiden voyage, I caught a couple of lads checking out the front as I drove past. :)

Will try and get some pics tomorrow. I need a beer.

Hats off to you Karl for completing that job by yourself. I'd let a bodyshop deal with the grief and humbly pay the bill...

But hey, what's a few cuts when you stand back and think 'I done that' with a beer in hand. :thumb:

Look what arrived today from the Fatherland:

Eye wateringly exbenzive :( :( :(

Those tiny clips are £2.30 each :eek::eek: (with trade discount)

ive got a few of those clips broken on mine, need to get them ordered :)

worth it in the end mate as it will finish it off nicely!, even tho its partially hidden by the number plate plinth!

How does the saying go ? " If you can't do the job properly " etc etc . It will finish it off Karl.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhh!

That would have saved me over £100 :( :( :( :(

The grill was £130 (trade).

I cant return them either as they are 'custom' parts jobs from the factory

I could cry! - Gutted. I swear I searched for those part numbers aswell.

Rashman will buy it off you im sure, he didnt replace his centre grill and im sure its looking at only 99.9% as good as new, which is clearly not good enough for him ;)

Do you have the 2x small covers for the centre bolts aswell? or any other trim?

What a fantastic thread. I wish I had the guts (and the cash) to undertake something like this!

Cheers!

No big mods for a while now as im moving house. Next up has to be Quad exhausts when I do though :D

Is there any advantage to have quad exhausts on a 270 diesel or is it just a nice to have. I cast no stones here and I'm not trying to be clever. Just asking is all.

Im only asking as one day a 270 diesel shall be mine.

Good Luck with the house move.

CHEERS

Just cosmetic :D
