My New W209 CLK - Large Modding Project

You connect the black one if I remember right. Think its the aerial.

If anyone comes across a CLK55 exhaust - any/all of it - I'm looking for a graft-on for my 500......

Thanks in advance.

Bit quiet on the mod front these days as im between houses + just had an offer accepted on a new flat :D

But, managed to pick this up off eBay - pretty rare for them to come up. :bannana:

A terrible flaw with the W209 is the lack of cup holders in the front. either you twist around and use the 2 in the rear armrest, or you have to rest them on the floor as there is no flat surface :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

It will require me once again dismantling half the dashboard to fit - yes really!
:eek::eek::eek:

I thought that was standard on the W209? My sister had a 209 Avantgarde and had that cup holder. I chose her options & don't remember speccing that for her (was about 10 years ago now though!)

MB cost cutting it would seem I have a cubby hole that is so narrow I can't get my hand in to reach the back. Useless!

Its gonna be grief but that's what I do :) :) :)

It was an option. I seem to remember it was a no cost option. Either a small tray or a cupholder. We went for the cupholder just to watch the mechanism open. Its never held a cup in the 10 years we have owned the car.

I am not sure i would want anyone drinking in my car anyway.....Great thread keep up the good work.
Tony.

It is a nifty little feature. Aside from when you exit a service station slip road a little too sharpish and the contents of the cup runs over the COMAND and heating controls... :D

Good luck on the instal Karl, you'll be able to take the dash apart in your sleep now though!?!

I'd love to know what the MB design team was thinking of when they decided to go with the natty sprung/damped version in mine. It appears to be capable of holding 4 Oxo cubes, 10 Number 6 (a type of cigs popular when I was a youff) or a maybe a Rubicks Cube, but certainly nothing helpful. Maybe the MB canteen served coffee in weird Germanic rectangular cups.....

Its 'easy' when you know how, just worried about all my ambient LED lighting that I might dislodge some of it

Drinking in your car, Karl?!

lol

Yes of course :D

After the incident of the (sealed) large McDonalds coke bouncing around the back seats it might be wise for me to invest in a cup holder ;)

Ignore all these people about not drinking in your car. When you do some serious miles, you have to drink!
I always used sealed bottles in that cup holder anyway and never had any spillages of course.
P.s. you'll have it fitted in a couple of hours no problem, when I did mine it was the first time I had the dash apart do took a little longer figuring out how to dismantle everything.

One could always stop and get a drink.
And if doing serious miles, it might also be a good idea to have a break from driving.

Brand new, secondary rear box for a CLK63 AMG with twin chrome tips :D - main thing is I have the correct tips for the right hand side.

I'll have to see how brave my garage are feeling to make a custom Quad exhaust set up for me, that muffler will have to go :D

My eBay luck continues ;)

This is probably one of the only CLK's that has had its dash apart so many times..... Hats off to you Karl....
