Never buying Merc again. Pretty depressed atm..

Sales manager rang me at 8:00 tonight, still at work i presume..

Cheque is being made tomorrow for a full refund and they are picking up the piece of crap.

He is also going to try and track down a car of the same spec from other stratstone dealers.

Laters...

Excellent news :)

Good news and this was the expected outcome,, do stay with that model of car, this is nothing else out there anything like it.

Thanks for posting back

Great result and lets be hinest the ONLY result.

Are you sticking with a Merc if they find you one?

Hope you get a better nights sleep not worrying about it.

After Mercedes put a rocket up his bum...

Good result Donza.

I have to give credit to MB UK. They must have scared the beejeezus out of him.

MB UK were nothing but brilliant to me, i cant say enough thanks to the people on the end of that phone in customer service.

I am assuming this could have been a glaring error on the dealers part. But i could have been left 16k out of pocket if i had come to sell the car later on and god knows what else.

Thankgod the engine warning light came on and i called assyst. Assyst let me on to the suspect mileage.

Both Assyst and MB UK are excellent.

My story with W211's so far:

1. First e-class got written off, insurance paid out..
2. 2nd e-class turned out to be a dud...

I have been refunded twice on a w211 now...

3rd time lucky maybe?

i'll sleep on it. Although i dont like the 7 series BMW's..But the 530D M-Sport looks ok'ish..

finally can anyone tell me if a main dealer would sell a 90,000 mile car under the approved scheme? (not this specific vehicle, but any Mercedes-Benz)

Regards
John

I did google this before and look on the AUC scheme criteria and found:
http://www.dealers.motortrak.com/mbkent/usedcars.php that states AUC cars can be upto 4 yrs old, and 40k.

I seriously doubt that a dealership has clocked the car.

For them to be selling it means they have taken it in as part-ex and they would have taken the 90k+ miles into consideration when bidding on the car and usually they then would have off loaded to another trader (as its not something they would sell).

If it has been traded in to the dealer them clocked, it means that whoever traded it in had it out of the service network since it was less than 37k miles, as the dealer will have access to the service logs to query the clocked mileage.

But I doubt it though, surely someone who racks up 90k+ miles in 25k+ car would scrimp on servicing.

Happy to be proved wrong though

:D

Call that 8 services at £300 per go average, £2400.

Back street servicing, say £1000, then clock the car and gain an additional £7,000.

It all adds up.

So, to clarify 'cos I is a bit dim like John () - the car is currently showing 37k on the clock??

Yes, but the invoice shows 38,500 and the last service shows 90,000 and the mileage EEPROM has been tampered with.

Not good..

Looking at the service book right now.

Although it is a duplicate. The car was serviced once at 16k, and then again at 32k.

Both at same garage..NOT MB garage

God i have to muster up all the energy to look for another car........

Amazing not to use a MD dealer at those low mileages, sounds very dodgy to me. If that is the case I am amazed that MB took it and sold it on their forecourt.

Send me the chassis number and I will do some digging.

I have friends at dealers......
