if the dealer can nail the rattles, I do like my C Class

You probably wouldn't like the nail heads showing.

I answered 2-4 years as its about average for me but it has varied from car to car.....

Smart Roadster - 2 years
Ford Mondeo - 8 months (Suprise! Mistake)
Vauxhall Astra Convertible - 4 years 6 months
Mercedes C Class C180 - 1 Month....

Think the Merc will be the longest I keep a car in fairness....

As someone who has two cars, one I've kept for over 6 years, the other one is like a rotating thing, every 12 months or so, hence I answered 1-2 years to be fair.

As I'm currently looking for a W123 or W124, it will be the next car in the rotation.
Maybe it will be a "stayer".

cheers
richard

I kept my C36 for over 5 years! Great car!

lol, just worked out at least 31 cars in 27years (plus numerous motorbikes) this obviously includes having two or more at one time, present cars, the 203 has been with me for 3years,and no intention of changing it.the c124 arrived 3 months ago(hopefully i'll be as pleased as its previous owner who bought it new 17 years ago!) incedentaly the chap i bought the c124 from who kept it for 17 years, bought it after keeping his previous merc for 17 or 18 years,i wonder if he will still have his newly purchased c class in 15 years or so??:dk:

Ive had 52 cars in my 29 years of driving and the only way i knew was because a workmate had remembered them all and wrote them in his diary, He still says remember that one and honestly theres 3 that i cant remember .

Ive had 8 cars in my 6 years of driving..the last 2 being 2004 c270 cdi's..my first cdi had 470 000km on the clock and didnt give me a days problem, absolutely love that engines, sold it and bought exactly the same car with 90 000km.

So far 18yrs-20yrs

Currently the SL 9yrs., the CL and the Volvo were only purchased last year......the Volvo will have to go ''early'' after I stop working.

The only car I've had any length of time is the 190e at 5 years now. Despite it being a humble little 2.0 auto I just like it too much to ever let go and its a useful second car to have knocking around as its so reliable. Ironically it was bought as a stop-gap.

I absolutely hate buying and selling cars but I just can't help it! I hoping the 210 will break the cycle but if I were to see a nice 124 coupe or S-class for sale locally I'm not sure I could hold out

Please vote :)

edit: oops made an error with the poll options. There's a gap of 4-5 years. Oh well.
Admins: if you're feeling generous please edit option 4 to read 2-5 years. Thanks.

My 5th car for 17 years and its getting harder to change.Steve why you are banned?

Just about to pick up car number 11 in 23 years, so average of just over 2 years

Mitsubishi sigma 6 months
Vauxhall cavalier 1 year
Vauxhall Astra 2 years
Ford sierra 2 years
Triumph spitfire 1 year
Rover 216 se 2 years
Rover 216 gti 3 years
Rover 420 gsdi 5 years
Audi a4 4 years
Seat exeo 3 years
C class amg sport plus will be current in few days

Had some bloody awful cars!!!!

I don't feel like I've got used to a car until I've had it for at least a year or so - and I tend to do 20–25k miles per year. I'm just settling into my S211 now I've had it for 15 months, and don't intend to change it any time soon; it was bought out of necessity as my Mondeo (kept 4 years) wasn't big enough for family holidays.

Mrs Troon's C-MAX has been with us since new, so that's 8½ years old now.

Statistically, my figures would be skewed by a few years of getting a new Ford every 9 months when I worked there, as the employee discount offset the depreciation.

The list, since 1991: Mk1 Fiesta × 2, Mk4 Fiesta × 4, Mk1 Focus × 2, C-MAX, Mk3 Mondeo, S211.

Always intend to keep cars for a long time...and then usually circumstances change and I end up needing something else. At the moment most cars last 1.5 to 2 yrs before getting swapped.

I keep mine forever, at least that's what I tell my wife eveytime I buy a new car.

I use to buy cars every year or two,but once I discovered German cars,I tended to hold on to them a bit longer..A couple golfs then an Audi 2.8 quattro that I kept for 4yrs followed by a B5 S4 which I kept for over 5 yrs..Currently got a c32 amg which I intend to keep for many yrs..A great car

Average for me is 2 years .However, if MPG were factored in - it really should be only 2 weeks.
I've lost count of desperate owners who've ditched their poor mpg cars.
And their Mpg is ... actually still .better than mine :(

i've kept the W124 estate i currently drive as my daily driver the longest i've ever kept a car.

5 years... cars i've had previously have lasted 2 - 3 years
